The adventure of the Magic of the Far South helps you explore the
spectacular Ziz valley. This excursion is defined by the contrasting
colors and the magic of the desert. The landscape sparkles like fairies
as we travel throughout dunes, from true moving sculptures and past pink
and gold sands. The sight of the red rising sun only illuminated the
vastness of the desert sky, as demonstrated in the movie "The Mummy". We
camp in this desert in a pure and traditional way, as famous explorers
from the beginning of the century once did. Three nights of this tour are spent in a hotel while four nights are
spent camping in the desert. The camp: Roomy tents with two beds each
comprised of linens, cloths, covers, pillows, a bedside table and
lighting. During camp, the meals are served in a large tent with typical
European tables and chairs and standard hotel crockery. There are also
one or two restroom tents and one or two shower tents, based on the
number of participants.

ITINERARY
Saturday Arrival at Ouarzazate and transfer by bus to Erfoud. Here, we hold a
short briefing about the trip, and then it is off to enjoy dinner
and our first night in a hotel. Sunday We meet and greet our horses before starting off on our trip. After
some riding, we have a picnic lunch in a fort. Our ride ends when we
arrive at the first bivouac, reached by crossing the palm plantation
of Erfoud and the green landscapes of oases. Monday We set out to spend the day on horseback. This is the last day of
palm trees before we reach the desert. We spend the night in a camp.
Tuesday We ride all morning as we first approach and then explore the
desert. Here, it is quite likely that we see pink flamingos! We stop
for the day to camp among the dunes, all the while enjoying a
magnificent sunset. Wednesday We ride the horses through the desert to spend the night at camp
among the gigantic dunes. We enjoy a Mechoui dinner, complete with a
campfire and musicians. Thursday Today is a relaxed day. We have a choice of visiting the dunes by
foot, dromedary or horse. Tonight we return to the hotel for one
night and retire after enjoying a dinner of couscous. Friday
Today we return to Ourzazate by bus. We stop to enjoy lunch at the
Todraa gorges. We arrive at Ourzazate around 4:00 pm, where we can
enjoy the relaxing end-of-the-ride massages. Tonight we have a
farewell gathering and an enjoyable evening at the hotel. Saturday
Today is a day for shopping or other activities of interest. After
some free time, we take you to the airport for your flight home.
The Team The guide, Corinne, certified Guide of Equestrian excursions,
accompanies the entire tour. There is also a Moroccan guide who assists
her. The rest of the team is composed of: - a French physician, Dr. Martin, who follows the excursion in an
assistance vehicle. - a chief of logistics who directs the intendance
- a chef and his cook assistant - a stableman
- a camp assembling/disassembling team The team speaks French, English and Moroccan.
Meals All meals at the hotel, including a special welcome evening and an
animated goodbye evening. During the ride: Continental breakfast and traditional Moroccan
breakfasts, picnic lunches (salads, BBQ) or in typical restaurants,
dinners are cooked by our chef and his assistants.
Cavalry and saddle The horses are Arab-berbs specialized for this type of excursion.
They are particularly well maintained, accustomed to working together,
patient and reliable. These horses are selected on the spot by your
French guide. The saddles are English or excursion saddles.
The Equestrian Level A rider must be at ease at all paces, and it is helpful if they have
had previous experience on riding tours. The pace will be primarily the
step, some trots, and some walking horse in hand. There is some
unrestrained gallops, when the conditions allow it. The presence of two horse guides makes it possible to separate the group
to respect the rate/rhythm of each rider.
The Climate The local climate is pleasant and hot (between 15 °C and 35 °C,
according to the period). On the other hand, in winter, the nights are a
little bit cool! (Close to 5 °C) |
