Sample day activities
Your first ride takes you down to the ghost ship Alkimos with lunch on a
deserted beach.
Some day treks take you down towards the beach and along the coast in a
large circular tour, you may also see Kangaroos, Emus or even an
occasional Wedge Tail eagle floating almost aimlessly on the thermal air
currents. If you are really lucky sometimes we see the Eagles catch an
unfortunate rabbit for lunch. Lunch is usually near the beach at Lagoon
Kiosk with time for a short swim at the Yanchep Lagoon beach on a hot
day this is really welcome so don't forget your bathers, then its off to
Yanchep National Park for the Aboriginal Heritage tour. A lesson in tool
making in and around the Balga Mia village. A permanent demonstration
site within the Yanchep National Park.
The Twilight Rides are world renown. The rides leave about 1 and half
hours before sunset so you can watch the ever-changing hues as the sun
slowly slides beyond the distant horizon. What a perfect way to end the
day - a quiet stroll down to the beach on a horse or camel, watch the
sun slowly set into the Indian Ocean.
Optional excursions (seasonal):
There is the option for a 4 wheel drive tour exploring more hidden trails
and beaches to the north, with a visit to the Pinnacle Desert, a natural
phenomenon about 150 miles north of Perth. We travel north through
Lancelin then we explore the fishing settlement of Wedge Island and
drive along the beach.
Riding/Canoeing Excursion:
The trip heads to Moore River traveling north through the small
township of Two Rocks then along deserted beaches and hidden
trails, reaching Moore River in the late afternoon. Spend the night
sleeping in a genuine Australian shearing shed, or under the stars.
Aussie swags supplied for sleeping, no need to bring your own sleeping
bags. The next day you explore the Moore River by Canadian Canoe. No
white water but a pleasant river to explore with about 10 miles of
navigable water.
The next day you return to the stables via an inland trail which follows
the western boundary of the Yanchep National Park and the old Wanneroo
Stock Route. The trail takes the riders through some interesting bush
land varying from open coastal dunes to high Tuart forest which is a
haven for all kinds of wildlife, especially kangaroos and emus.
Camel Rides
If you have never ridden a camel before we can offer you a first
experience in Camel Trekking. A short one Hour Camel Trek along some
very scenic bush trails south of Yanchep and for the more adventurous
try the "2UP" Beach Ride, a two hour trek down to a deserted beach.
The list goes on and on, but you can choose the ride best for your needs
from the drop down list below. Each page will give you a full
description of the ride. Take home some holiday experiences you will
remember for a long time.
Local beach:

A Scene from paradise? Not really - this is the local
beach - Yanchep Lagoon at low tide, showing the natural swimming pool to
the right of the picture with the breakers gently rolling in over the
natural Lagoon reef. A safe place to swim, a delightful place to snorkel
and an unreal place to body surf on the right tide.
Best time to go:
If are planning a trip to Perth or Western Australia don't forget the
best months to visit are normally between March and November. It may be
a little wet in July and August but you will miss most of the high
summer temperatures. |
