A naturally scenic outback retreat, situated on
historic (Boxvale" cattle station, a 4,000 acre working cattle property.
This ranch vacation, situated in beautiful Central Queensland is ideal
for those interested in experiencing life in the Outback, with all
activities included. Guests can do as little or as much as they like,
there is something here for everyone!
If you feel like experiencing something different and getting away from
the commercialized tourist areas then come and sample a slice of life in
the Outback!
Of course horse Riding is a major feature of the ranch, conducted by
experienced guides. We offer horses to cater for any level of
experience. You can enjoy as much horse riding or as little as you would
like. We try to include actual farm work with our horse rides, including
mustering the cattle on horseback. Alternatively, enjoy the early
evening twilight on a sunset horse ride. We do not believe in
traditional trail riding so you will be enthralled by experiencing this
vast property on horseback.
We attempt at all times to merge all guest activities with the actual
running of the farm.
Farm tours will be conducted regularly, giving a full overview of the
working of our cattle farm. On the farm tours, general duties such as
checking cattle, watering and fencing are also completed. You will find
many animals, all needing to be fed or handled. Milking the cows,
feeding horses or orphan calves, educating young cattle and feeding
bulls all need to be done on a daily basis and guests are encouraged to
join in and experience the lifestyle. The ranch also has a small area of
unique rainforest that can be experienced on the farm tour.

Accommodations
The original manager's residence on "Boxvale" has been
renovated and developed into our guest house. Rooms are double or twin
share with shared bathrooms, one between two bedrooms. Families are
welcome and catered for.
The guest house is clean, tidy and fresh making a welcome retreat at the
end of the day. There are no bunk beds.
Meals are taken at the main house in an outdoor dining facility, making
a great place to enjoy the home cooked meals, socialize or simply sit
around the camp fire and talk into the night.
The Ranch
"Boxvale" was purchased by the Oram Family in 2003 and runs about 400
beef breeding cattle and about 20 horses on over 4000 acres of rugged
bush land.
This family-owned and run farmstay invites guests to join in with farm
activities and get a taste of what it is like to live on the land.
We welcome travelers to stop and stay in our guest house, enjoy our
hospitality, home cooked meals and of course the vast and beautiful
landscape.
Wildlife
The ranch is set on a
4,000 acre property, surrounded by other properties, national parks and
forests, ensuring wildlife is a major feature of your stay.
Wildlife that you may possibly see around the farm includes kangaroos,
koalas, platypus, wallabies, dingoes, echidnas, goannas, wedge-tail
eagles and many other species of marsupials and birds including the rare
black cockatoo. The frontage to the ranch and the Boyne River (adjacent
to the guest house) provides a perfect home for many species of birds
and animals. We believe that keeping a natural balance of wildlife with
the working property is important to the ongoing sustainability not only
of our cattle enterprise but also the natural eco-system.
