    Buddy for Colores de Mexico?

    Hi, Everyone!

I'm and new to this new community but excited to find such a group of equestrians!

I am a 30-year-young female who is looking for another woman with whom to share a room so that I don't have to pay the singles supplement.

(Why the punishment for being single anyway?? :) )

I'm am interested in the trip from Feb 14-20, 2010. I'm a public school teacher so if anyone else has that week off for President's Week, please drop me a line!

    Thanks so much!

    Peggy

Hi Peggy! I've been interested in that ride to Mexico for some time now, but I don't know if I can fund that trip by February, as I just got back from Ireland in August and South Carolina last month. Do you have any other weeks available, like maybe spring break? Although I think airfares could be skyhigh by then! Well, let me think about this some more and I will let you know if I can swing it for February. Rose.

    Hi, Rose,

Thanks for your reply! Sorry for the delay, I've been having trouble signing into this website.

Yes, please let me know about February's trip soon. I'd love to go on this Mexico trip but paying the single supplement makes it a little too pricey.

As for spring break, I have other plans in the works. Sorry.

Were your other trips with Hidden Trails as well? This is my first time looking into this company so any feedback from a previous rider would be appreciated!

Hope to hear from you soon! Peggy

Re: Buddy for Colores de Mexico?

Hi Peggy, Yes, I had some difficulty getting on to the site for a few days as well...I think it was being updated. Anyway, I checked further into the Mexico trip in terms of matching my budget against airfares and availability for dog sitting, etc...and sadly, to make a long story short, I won't be able to do this trip in that time frame. So I think I will try to plan for a lower-priced trip after spring break to catch the better airfares. The Gila Working Ranch in Nex Mexico apparently does not require a singles supplement, so I may look into that. But good luck in your plans and hope you still find someone to go with you. That sounds like such an awesome trip!! Well, I have used Hidden Trails for about 7 or 8 trips now and overall, I think it is the best in terms of cost, service, quality and accuracy of reviews. I have only tried one other outfit, the Dude Ranchers Assoc, but they are quite pricey and don't seem to have as many trips to choose from or the level of service that I would expect. So, I definitely recommend Hidden Trails. The staff are very friendly and accessible and will go out of their way to answer all your questions. Let me know if you do make the Colores de Mexico trip. I would love to hear about your experience, as that one is definitely on my list!!! Happy Trails and Happy Holidays! Rose.

Re: Buddy for Colores de Mexico?

Thank you for your reply, Rose!

I'm not sure if I'm going anymore. The longer I deliberate, the more expensive the airfare gets. But if I do go, I'll definitely let you know all about it!

I have another vacation April 9-18 ... if you're interested in going to Mexico then...... let me know and we can do it!

    Happy Holidays!

Re: Buddy for Colores de Mexico?

Hi Peggy, Thanks for writing back. Yes, I can do the week of April 10-17 for Mexico!! I believe it's from Sat thru Sat, but I will doublecheck. I looked at airfares for that week...they are still under $600 (Mexicana). Even cheaper for the following week, April 17th-24th, but you probably don't have that one available. Anyway, we should probably get on the ball and make a decision soon and get our reservations in!! So where would you be flying out of? Have a Happy New Year! Rose.

Re: Buddy for Colores de Mexico?

Hello Rose, I have been interested in taking a trip but my husband is not interested. Although I am not a great rider I am not a novice either. It seems you may have taken a few of these trips. Would you mind sharing with me your experiences? Hope to hear from you, Mary Chicago Area

Re: Buddy for Colores de Mexico?

Hi Mary, Sorry, it took so long to get back to you. I just checked back into the site today and noticed your message! Yes, I was just in Mexico at El Rancho Las Cascadas (Colores de Mexico trip) in April. It was an awesome horseback riding vacation and I got to meet a lot of great people and new friends. I am so excited to hear that you are from the Chicagoland area. For the past several years I have been hoping to meet someone nearby with a similar passion for horses. Where do you ride? Any ideas where you would like to travel? I may be able to do another trip toward the end of the year, maybe mid October to early November? If you would like to get more experience riding, I also know a few places nearby. Well, let me know your thoughts. Looking forward to hear from you. Rose
