Austria, Tirol - Zillertal Riding Escape with Hidden Trails

Zillertal Riding Escape
Western Riding in Tirol
Located in the middle of a large alpine meadow, this resort in Gerlos is an ideal starting point for trail rides into the mountain range of the Zillertaler Alps. The ranch (elevation of 6,000 ft) is perfect for families - riders or non-riders. There are so many different rides into the mountains that you will explore a different valley, a different range on every day-ride you take.
This Resort Ranch is a vacation destination with style. It stands out due to the passion for horses, the extraordinary service and the remarkable hospitality of the Austrian people. Therefore, this program is at the same time sophisticated and relaxed.
This resort ranch is perfect for families - riders or non-riders and children. It is also a great ski destination for "Ski and Ride" programs. A great skiing area is located at the doorsteps.
You can choose from half-day rides (3-4 hours) and day rides (6-7 hours) - all accompanied by an experienced guide. Lunches are either picnics that you take along in your saddlebag, or you can stop at one of the small, local restaurants. There are over 11 different rides available (see map).
The riding center also offers lessons - by certified instructors - in Western, trail and pleasure riding in small groups of max. 4-5 people, as well as special riding lessons for children.
Overnight trips
can be arranged upon request.
Ride to the top of the mountains from the "Ötztaler Alps"  to the "Hohen Tauern"  overlooking the whole "Zillertal" and its breathtaking glaciers.
In the evening you sit around the bonfire with your fellow riders. You sleep in small mountain huts - "Alm Huetten". In the morning you saddle up and ride up to the  Isskogel-Gipfel. The return ride goes through the Krummbach Valley back to the ranch.

The Casino:
Fun and light-heartedness
Tempting, promising, enchanting, and bewitching. We are talking about the old-fashioned game of luck.
According to an old saying, everyone creates their own pot of luck. Only if fate has not denied him/her a hammer and an anvil. If you are out to try your luck and to experience the unexpected, then the Almhof Casino is the place which offers a rendezvous with a touch of nostalgia. Even though we do not gamble for money, the valuable in-kind prizes provide for a fascinating time of temptation.

Half-day trail - Wimmertal - 1
The ranch looks out onto the start of the Wimmertal valley. Following a gentle ascent, the Wimmertal opens up and is flanked by strange rock outcrops. The majestic “Wechselspitze” (the ‘Matterhorn’ of Gerlos) stands there ready to greet the riders. We then continue on over the luxuriant, green alpine meadows before taking a break for refreshments at the Wimmertal “Jausenstation”. Return by the same route.
Full day trail - Wimmertal - Grundhütten - 1,2
From the Wimmertal valley our route takes us over several valley levels to the last huts, the “earth huts”, at approximately 1800 m. We have a break here. Anyone who would like to can climb the Wimmer-Scharte (2500 m) on foot.
Full day trail - Wimmertal Schlaghütten - 1,3
From the Wimmertal valley a path on the right-hand side leads to the Schlaghütten-Alm at approx. 1700 m. From here it is possible to enjoy a magnificent view of the Gerlostal-Alm, Kreuzjoch, Isskogel and Königsleiten.

At the ranch we cross the “Gerlosbach” stream and ride along the small Gmündner reservoir to the entrance to the Schwarzachtal. We ride through a short belt of forest, pass the Schwarzach-Bichlaste and enter the narrow, romantic Schwarzachtal. At the hut, well known for good music, we take a break.

After crossing the bridge at the Oberwirt, the path takes us along the man-made right bank into the Innertal valley.
