The Drag Hunt takes place on the country estate, which extends over 150 hectares (375 acres) between the Lakes of Bracciano and Martignano, right in the homonymous Natural & Regional Park.
In this organically cultivated Estate there is also a farming of Maremma cattle, goats, sheep, horses, and a goat cheese factory, where Drag Hunts stops for a while to have a cheese and wine taste and snack.
Setting of the hunt is the wide and airy Roman countryside, a land rich in Etruscan, Roman, Medieval and Renaissance archaeological findings…
Following alternative routes, the hunting itinerary winds through the Estate and area bordering on the Lake of Martignano. This hilly ground is scattered with about fifty fixed obstacles, from eighty centimeters to one meter high (31in – 39 in). All the obstacles are easily avoidable through alternative ways, in order to allow riders to have a gradual approach to jumping.
The horses available are of Maremma improved breed and Irish Sport Horses. The pack of hounds consists of 12 couples of Irish Foxhounds, whose breed comes from the prestigious South County Dublin Harriers Club (we’re twined with them).
Full hunting dress is required :
Ladies : a black single breasted coat or a black (or blue) competition jacket : a white shirt and shirt front, light brown or yellow (but not white) breeches ; black leather (or rubber) boots without tops ; a black (or blue) hunting cap, a safety helmet with black cover, or a black hunting bowler hat ; yellow or brown leather gloves, or white cotton gloves ; a hunting whip, a cane stick or a hunting crop.
Gentlemen : same hunting dress as Ladies (but breeches must not be yellow).
