Umbria - Olive Grove Path
- a Self guided walking tour
This walk from Assisi to Spoleto takes you through olive groves, famous vineyards and flower-filled meadows of the Appenines. Pass through medieval hill towns such as Assisi, Spello and Trevi and stay in wonderful accommodations within the medieval walls-each with Roman sites, ancient alleys and fine churches, some with beautiful frescoes. Follow the trail, used by St Francis and go back to Medieval times while enjoying quality Umbrian food.

 Olive Grove Path
9 or 7 days - Self-guided walking

Day 1: Arrival Day
• Transfer from the airport to Foligno by train. Pick up by our representative and transfer to Spello. (2 hrs)
Day 2: Freedom Day  in Spello
• Walk to Assisi and up to the convent of Le Celle, founded by St Francis of Assisi.
• Explore Spello and the church of Santa Maria Maggiore frescoed by Pinturicchio.
Day 3: Spello to Sassovivo ( 6 hrs)-10 miles
A wonderful walk passing by old abbeys with frescoes from the 14th Century and through the olive groves.
Day 4: Sassovivo to Trevi (6 hrs)-10 miles
• Climb slowly up to Roviglieto before descending to Trevi, undoubtedly with one of the most enviable panoramas in Umbria.
Day 5: Freedom Day in Trevi
Walk or bus to Montefalco and visit church of S. Franceso, frescoed by Gozzoli
Visit Trevi and the Church della Madonna delle Lacrime, an important Umbrian Renaissance temple.
Day 6: Trevi to Poreta ( 4 to 5 hrs) 9 miles
This walk takes you to the magnificent castle of Poreta, passing by Fonti del Clitunno, natural springs made up of many transparent pools of water.
Day 7: Poreta to Spoleto ( 4 to 5 hrs)-9 miles
This walk takes you along a disused railway line crossing viaducts and bridges and passing by the medieval village of Eggi.
Day 8: Freedom Day in Spoleto
• Exlpore the medieval city of Spoleto and walk to Monteluco
• Enjoy the gastronomy, famous for its black truffles
Day 9: Departure Day
 • Transfer to Spoleto train station and train to the airport. ( 2 hrs)
