The Dordogne, also known as the Perigord is without doubt one of the most interesting and diverse regions in the world. The Vezere Valley in the "Perigord Noir" is with it's more than 250 UNESCO sites of interest, the undisputed "Prehistoric Capital of the World". Prehistoric dwellings, caves, rock shelters and lots more, most of which are only accessible on foot. However, Dordogne has much more to offer than just relics from the Prehistoric era, castles, bastides, medieval towns & villages, all of these,and lots more, all in the stunning and amazing scenery the Dordogne is famous for, hills, clifts, windy rivers, great weather, friendly locals, and lots more make the Dordogne one of the most interesting and exciting places in the world.
Les Eyzies
It is commonplace for Les Eyzies to be introduced as the world's prehistoric capital and the numerous painted caves and, particularly, the proliferation of rock shelters only confirm this notion. The most varied prehistoric, and historic, styles and periods are represented, making Les Eyzies the archetypal town for travelling through the past. This vast, motionless promenade will enable us to appreciate more thoroughly the passing of prehistoric time. From La Micoque to Laugerie-Basse. from 300,000 to 5000 years B.C., prehistory at Les Eyzies lasted sixty times longer than history and one hundred and fifty times longer than the Christian era.

Day 1: Arrival in the afternoon in Souillac.
Once at your hotel you can take some time to visit the Benedictine monastery from the 12th century. See the remarkable abbey-church with fine carvings, and a statue of the prophet Isaiah, a masterpiece of the Romanesque art. Dinner included and night in a charming 3* hotel.
Day 2: Souillac – Saint Sozy 22 km
Along the river Dordogne, you can admire the castles of la Treyne and Belcastel, visit the famous « grottes de Lacave », and discover charming villages.
Day 3 Saint Sozy - Carennac 22 km
This easy trip along the riverside of Dordogne will drive you up to the brown roofs of Carennac, considered among the most beautiful villages of France. Day 4 Around Carennac (20 to 30 km)
The valley of the river Dordogne in Quercy shows many different landscapes and richness of patrimony: Castles of Castelnau and Montal, Grottes of Presque considered by Prince Henri d’Orleans as « the jewel in Europe’s crown », and picturesque villages of Autoire and Saint Céré.

Day 5 Carennac - Rocamadour 30 km
After leaving the valley, you can enter in the very heart of the earth : the gouffre de Padirac. The visit is particularly interesting. Then you will cycle among the Natural Parc of Causses du Quercy towards the marvellous site of Rocamadour. Do not miss the free flight show of birds of prey on the eagles rocks. Day 6 Around Rocamadour (20 to 30 km)
Rocamadour, the second site the most visited in France, is opening to you the gate of its religious city. From here, you can also go and discover the Causse Quercynois and its capital Gramat. Day 7 Rocamadour – Souillac 27 km
You will cycle among the valley of Ouysse and admire the Moulin de Cougnaguet, before arriving to Calès, village offering a beautiful panorama of the Causses. From here, you go back to the valley of Dordogne up to Souillac.
