Horseback ride until your heart's content. Grab your fly fishing gear and hit the St. Mary's river. Join a river rafting trip for the afternoon. Take a long hike and enjoy the scenery. Try 18 holes at one of the local golf courses. 

Play Bocce Ball or Volleyball on our huge lawn. Or jump in our pool for a refreshing dip before dinner. Go sightseeing; there are lots of interesting places to see and visit within a few hour's drive from Three Bars Guest Ranch.

We offer unlimited riding time or, if you prefer, organized morning and afternoon rides.

• The first rides leave the corral right after breakfast and return to the ranch for lunch.
• Afternoon rides leave our corrals between 1:00 & 1:30.
• Fast rides are offered to experienced riders after one full day of riding at the ranch.
• Riding lessons are included in ranch packages
• Private and semi-private riding lessons are available at an additional charge.

Sample Itinerary:

Sunday: Arrival - dinner & ranch orientation

Monday: Horse orientation then trail ride back to the ranch for lunch and another trail ride for the afternoon.  You get the same horse for the week, so you can gain confidence.  Evening of playing volleyball and a welcome nights rest.

Tuesday: Morning horseback riding back to the ranch for lunch then a choice of a guided hike to remote mountain water falls or join in another trail ride for the afternoon. Back to the ranch for dinner and evening around the campfire.

Wednesday: Morning breakfast ride back or breakfast hike or jump in the van to the breakfast - back to the ranch for lunch and then either join in another trial ride or spend your afternoon floating the St. Mary's river.  Evening or reining horse demo by Beckley reining horses and Jeff & Jesse Beckley

Thursday: Rise and shine to another great ranch breakfast and off to the corrals to meet your horse for another riding adventure.  Back to the ranch for lunch and choose between a raft trip or another afternoon with your horse. 

Friday: Morning or horse adventures awaits you exploring another of three bars ranch endless trails.  Back to the ranch for lunch and then off to for trap and sheet or join in the fun with your horse for another horseback ride.  Tonight is ranch Casino where the dealers are your ranch wranglers and you play with three bars money.  Always a fun evening for players of all ages.

Rafting
During July and August we spend one afternoon per week floating the St. Mary's River. While this is not a white water trip it's a great way to see the countryside from a unique river perspective, with great wildlife viewing opportunities.

Hiking
For those who want to join a guided hike and a chance to get your heart rate up a bit, come along on our once-weekly hike to Perry Creek Falls, in the Purcell Mountains. This hike is a bush trail with some steep grades—the destination, a beautiful natural waterfall.
We have mapped and marked hiking trails for those who like to get out on their own.

The ranch is open for the warmest part of the year, from May to September.

Environment Canada reports Cranbrook as having the most sunshine hours of any city in British Columbia at approximately 2228.6 hours annually. The area  in the southeast portion of British Columbia, where Cranbrrok is located, is known for its contrasts in climate. While the winters can be very cold, the summers are warm and semi-arid, with an average temperature of  26°C (79°F) in July.

The length of the day in the Rockies varies greatly throughout the year. Daylight can last as little as eight hours in December. At the end of June, the sun rises at 5:30 am and sets at 10:00 pm

A long-sleeved shirt and jeans are good for riding in, and some people like to wear tights underneath to decrease the chance of chafing.

For hiking, lightweight, waterproof hiking shoes or boots and walking shorts are suggests. 
Bike or riding helmets are strongly recommended for children who will be riding.

The Lodge
The ranch was created as a guest ranch. Designed to give our guest the utmost in comfort, amenities and relaxation. The lodge is the focal point with private cabins arranged around a large manicured lawn. It's the perfect place to leave the trail dust behind and enjoy this first class resort.
It's a spectacular log building and houses the dining room, saloon and recreation lounge. You won't find video games. Instead, you'll find a pool table, board games and cards. But mostly, guests come into the lodge to relax before dinner, share a drink and, of course, stories of the day's exploits. Whether it's sipping ice tea on the porch taking in a Volleyball game on the lawn, or talking about the one that got away in the saloon, The Lodge is a terrific place to relax and converse.

Cabins
Our spacious cabins emphasize comfort, relaxation and never skimping on amenities like hand built log furniture, comforters, full baths, a seating area and of course, a front porch. Whichever cabin works best for your family you are sure to find your private log cabin welcoming!

Your home while visiting three bars ranch will be one, two or three bedroom log cabins - each room has a unique bed configurations from one queen to two queen beds.  The new ranch house cabin is 3 bedroom with a king suite plus living room and kitchen.  Whichever cabin works best for your family you are sure to find your private log cabin welcoming! Free high speed internet in all cabins. Daily housekeeping is provided.

Breakfast offers a time to plan the day and to fuel up with a light breakfast of fruits, cereals and muffins or a robust morning meal of eggs, pancakes or oatmeal-the works. And if your heading out for the day we'll pack a lunch for you. Weekly breakfast rides are often a three bars ranch favorite.
Lunch offers guest a chance to replenish after a morning ride. Always casual, lunch fare includes salads, hot n' cold sandwiches and all the treats. And regularly lunch is served around the grill on the patio. Don't forget to grab an extra cookie for the trail.
Dinner offers a time to enjoy a leisurely meal with family and new friends. A full complement of entrees, vegetables and potatoes and salads. Top it all off with desserts that we're famous for, a cup of coffee or a brandy. And our weekly steak cookouts are a favorite part of the guest ranch routine.

Rides are set up as requested; ride as short or long as you wish! Whether you are an old hand or someone who needs a little hand we're sure you will enjoy your time in the saddle. Your horse will be yours for the week,  ready and waiting for you every morning of your stay. 
Horseback riding is a very physical activity, one which requires balance, stamina and strength. Anyone who is physically fit can learn to ride. Kids must be at least 7 years old to ride at the ranch. Parents who want their riding children to wear helmets must bring their own.
Guests are welcome to watch reining horse demonstrations and training. These horses are not available for riding. If over age 70 the rider must have current riding experience. To go on fast rides, riders need to be able to mount horses unassited.

Passports
Passport valid for at least one day beyond the intended departure date from Canada required by all nationals referred to in the chart except the following:
(a) 1. Canadian citizens holding a Canadian Certificate of Identity, Canadian birth certificate or a certificate of Canadian citizenship;
(b) permanent residents of Canada with proof of status, ie Permanent Resident Card, Record of Landing, Returning Resident Permit or a Refugee Travel Document issued by the government of Canada to refugees who have been resettled in Canada;
(c) 2. citizens of the USA holding proof of citizenship (eg US birth certificate or US naturalisation papers).
Note: As of 23 January 2007 all persons, including US citizens, travelling by air between the USA and Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport or other approved document when entering or re-entering the USA. Similar requirements for those travelling by land or sea will be introduced as early as 1 January 2008. (d) persons entering from St Pierre & Miquelon or the USA who are legal permanent residents of the USA and hold a US alien registration card (Green Card);
(e) 3. citizens of France who are residents of and entering from St Pierre & Miquelon.
Note: (a) Children under 18 years must have information with them on the people responsible for their welfare, if travelling alone; this includes a letter of permission to travel from guardian(s), and also a letter from the custodian in Canada. (b) Depending on circumstance and nationality, certain applicants may need to undergo a medical examination in order to receive their visas; this must be carried out by a physician on Canada's list of Designated Medical Practitioners.
Passport Note
Visitors to Canada must satisfy an examining officer at the Port of Entry that they are genuine visitors, in good health, with no criminal convictions, and have sufficient funds to maintain themselves during their stay in Canada and to return to their country of origin, as well as evidence of confirmed onward reservations out of Canada. Persons under 18 years of age who are unaccompanied by an adult should bring with them a letter from a parent or guardian giving them permission to travel to Canada.

Identity/travel documents issued to non-national residents of the country of issue, refugees or stateless persons are recognised for travel to Canada.

Visas
Not required by all nationals referred to in chart above (visitor or transit) for stays of up to six months except the following:
(a) 4. holders of passports endorsed ‘British Subjects’ and ‘British Protected Persons’;
(b) 5. nationals of Bulgaria and Romania;
(c) those visiting Canada who, during that visit, also visit the USA or St Pierre & Miquelon (a French Overseas Territory) and return directly to Canada as visitors within the period authorised on their initial entry (or any extension thereto).

Visa Note
The Government of Canada refuses admission to: (a) holders of passports issued by the UK Government entitled 'British Temporary Resident's Passport'.

(a) A single-entry visa is still valid if used to visit the USA. (b) Persons wishing to attend a course of six months duration or less, at any level, do not require a study permit. However, if there is the possibility that you will extend your period of study in Canada, or if you are a full time student and wish to work on campus, you may apply for a study permit.
Types of Visa and Cost
Visitor: C$75 (single-entry); C$150 (multiple-entry). Family: C$400 (for families of six or more persons). Transit: free. Transit visas are necessary for all nationals who require a visitor visa. Although transit visas are not required by British citizens, they may be required by foreign nationals with British passports; check with the embassy or high commission for details. For further information on payment methods, contact the high commission. Prices are subject to frequent change.
Validity
Up to six months depending on circumstances of individual applicant. The determination regarding length of stay in Canada can only be decided by the examining officer at the port of entry, but visas cannot exceed the validity of the passport and cannot be longer than five years. If no actual departure date is indicated within the visitor’s passport, then the visitor will be required to depart within three months from the date of entry. Visitors must effect their departure from Canada on or before the date authorised by the examining officer on arrival. If an extension of stay is desired, an application must be made in writing to the nearest Canada Immigration Centre at least three weeks before the expiry of the visitor visa. Multiple-entry visas cannot be valid longer than passport. Transit visas are only allocated if a national's flight/onward journey is continuing within 24 hours. Single-entry visas can be used multiple times by nationals of St Pierre & Miquelon and the USA.

Working Days Required
10 days are required from receiving applications, but applications should be made at least one month prior to the intended date of departure. Certain nationals are subject to longer processing times. For urgent applications it is advised to apply in person. Same-day processing is available for applications made in person and 24-hour processing for those using the drop-in service.
