Redwood Coast Ride

Redwood Coast Ride
California USA

Revitalize yourself with a riding vacation out of the charming seaside town of Mendocino and the exquisite freedom of cantering along the Pacific Coast...
Join us for a fabulous week along the northern coast of California, where the magic lies in the spectacular scenery, the crashing of the waves of the Pacific Ocean, the towering ancient redwoods, the vast cattle ranches. Here we find magic in the tranquility and majesty of this incredible place in which we are privileged to live and ride. Let us share the magic with you.
This is an
area of great natural beauty, rich in wildlife and where time flows with the relaxed pace of the west coast and small town lifestyle.  The ghosts of Russian, Spanish and English adventurers tenaciously cling to this isolated haven where you can canter along its deserted ocean beaches, ride the rugged bluffs with the great Pacific crashing against the rocks far below, and meander on mossy trails through the magnificent Redwood forests of Northern California's rugged Mendocino Coast. Your host Lari Shea invites you to ride with her on her prized string of much loved horses - she breeds Akhal-Teke, Russian Orlov crosses, and Arabians, many of whom have excelled in dressage and jumping, as well as on competitive endurance trails. Her Appaloosa and Quarter horses round out the line up of wonderfully well-trained horses, for both English and Western style enthusiasts. The quality of horses available to ride are top notch and so are the exciting trails you will discover together.  This is a riding vacation that can cater for many types and levels of riders, as the riding group is intermittently broken up throughout the day's trail to allow experienced riders to ride the optional fast stretches and where novice riders can opt for a relaxed version, all meeting up again further along the route.  Experienced riders will welcome and appreciate the opportunity to test their skills on a mock endurance ride along the way. The guide can teach riders all the fine details about the fine tuned conditioning of the sport horse and the intricacies of a long distance trek ! The Redwood Coast Ride covers many miles along the pretty beaches, through a working cattle ranch, the giant ancient Redwood forests and up into the coastal mountain range, richly covered with towering conifers and offering views that stretch to what seems like eternity. Lodging is in a boutique style inn in Mendocino with a convenient hill top setting overlooking the historic village and the stunningly beautiful Pacific coastline.  This trip is complete with elegant dining including the fine California wines, delightful hot tubs under the stars, and internationally acclaimed musicians entertaining you at night.

Special 'Equine, Wine and Song' Redwood Coast Ride in July:
Mendocino County is known for its spectacular coast, seaside villages, picturesque vistas, parks, and award winning wines. As you meander toward the Mendocino Coast, you'll travel through sprawling wine country vineyards, wide-open meadows and into towering majestic redwood forests. This is a very Special Ride combining our fabulous Redwood Coast Ride with the annual Mendocino Music Festival on 1 evening, and an optional premier wine tour ! Do NOT miss out!

Special 'Endurance Race' in September:

Ride and train with Lari Shea for a week and participate in a 30 or 50 mile endurance race on the last riding day. Lari is the winner of dozens of endurance events, including the prestigious Tevis Cup 100 Mile Endurance race - her vast knowledge, expereince and ability to communicate with the riders will set you on the perfect course to become a successful endurance rider.
