Transfer Option:

Day 1 On arrival at Punta Arenas airport you will be met by your guide who will accompany you during the transfer to Puerto Bories and Bories House, situated on the banks of the Ultima Esperanza sound. In the afternoon you have the option to take a short ride or visit the local museum, “Frigorifico Puerto Bories” 

Day 2  Early morning transfer to Estancia Puerto Consuelo. Today we set off across the pampa to the Milodon cave which Capt Eberhard discovered in 1895. The name “Milodon” was given after the remains of a giant sloth dating back 10,000 years ago where found there by Eberhard. We continue the ride to Laguna Sofia, through ancient Lenga forests and open valleys until we reach a Condor lookout point on the cliffs of Laguna Sofia. After lunch we take a transfer to our stay for the night at the travellers inn Tres Pasos, which used to be frequented by the poet Gabriela Minstral.

Day 3  Today we set off from the travellers inn Tres Pasos and ride through beautiful countryside until we arrive at a small farming settlement Cerro Castillo. This ride will take us around lagoons, through woodland valleys and up to a lookout point to see the Torres del Paine National Park. Tonight we stay at Hotel El Pionero. This house used to be the home of an English gentleman Mr Saunders, who was one of the managers who worked for the company “Explotadora de Tierra del Fuego 1893 –1943”.

Day 4  From the farming settlement Cerro Castillo we set off on a challenging days ride across the pampa to estancia Cerro Guido on the Eastern border of the Torres del Paine National Park. This is a long, but rewarding days ride. The evening is spent at Cerro Guido at this beautiful restored farm house with its privileged views of the Towers of Paine. 

Day 5  Today we have a wonderful ride to the outpost Las Chinas which is on the same estancia - Cerro Guido. We will ride through mountain passes and along high ridges that will enable us to have spectacular views of the towers, Sarmiento lake and the impressive Baguales mountain range. The evening will be spent at homely Las Chinas in a remote and pristine corner of Patagonia.

Day 6  One of the most beautiful rides of the trip today we head to Laguna Azul. With the towers of Paine as our constant back drop we ride through diverse terrain of pampa and woodland passes until we reach the Las Chinas waterfall where we will stop for lunch. By early afternoon we arrive at Laguna Azul where our transfer will pick us up and transfer us to the hotel/spa Las Torres, Las Torres, originally “Estancia Paine” was one of the first estancia in the area. 

Day 7  We shall take a wonderful walk up to the towers today. Three hours to reach the base and two & half down. There is the option to relax at the spa which offers therapeutic massages and a Jacuzzi or just relax and take a shorter walk around the area. The evening will be spent at Las Torres again.

Day 8  Early morning transfer to Punta Arenas airport.

Note: From our experience, the What to Bring list will be adequate to cope with the demands of travelling in Patagonia.  The Patagonian climate is famously unpredictable and weather changes in an instant.  Temperatures vary between 10 and 20 degrees during the day but at night it can drop to zero.  The wind can be very strong so windproof clothing is especially important.

You will be staying in a country house and a tradional estanica.
The food is all organically grown. Fresh local meats or fish are offered with most meals. Vegetarians should forward dieters requirements.

This trip includes and can accommodate special dietary requests.

Insurance Coverage:
For these trips it is mandatory that you have proof of travel insurance that covers you for all activities during the tour and also covers emergency evacuation and medical treatment.

Horses: The horses vary in size with the majority being between 14.0 and 15.2 hands. They are willing, sure-footed, fit and safe and cope admirably with both the terrain and the demands of our rides.   We are able to provide good horses for both experienced riders and for riders who are more novice or a bit 'rusty'.

Tack: The tack is Chilean and comprises of metal-framed saddles onto which is layered felt, sheepskin and leather.  Rope, rawhide and leather form the bridles, girths, straps etc.  The saddles provide adequate comfort for the long days riding and the stirrups consist of a leather cup through which the foot cannot pass.  Most of the horses are ridden in simple snaffles.  Halters are worn throughout the ride with rope tied around the horse's neck to tie up at lunch stops/rest stops etc

Passport valid for at least six months required by nationals referred to in the chart.
Passport Note
Passports issued to children must contain a photo and state the nationality.

Visas
Not required by all nationals referred to in the chart above for stays of up to 90 days except the following:
(a) 1. nationals of Greece for up to 60 days and nationals of Romania for up to 30 days.
(b) transit passengers continuing their journey on the same or first connecting aircraft provided holding required travel documents for onward destination and not leaving the airport transit lounge.

2. Nationals of Australia, Canada and the USA entering Chile for touristic purposes will be charged a processing fee payable on arrival and in cash only. For nationals of  Australia, the fee is US$56; for nationals of Canada, the fee is US$132; and for nationals of the USA, the fee is US$100 .
