Costa Rica Escape
Pacific Coast Costa Rica

A wonderful horseback riding get-away on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. We explore and stop at waterfalls, natural spring fed pools, canter on the beaches and venture off into the hills and canyons with tropical vegetation - a ride you will not soon forget. After we stop and ride with a Paso breeder, we continue onto the beaches of Jaco on the Pacific Ocean. Here we explore the forests tracks and local small villages including a stop at the butterfly garden. The next day we ride through the stunning pristine primary and secondary rain forest with incredible vistas, here is the real Costa Rica.

But of course nothing compares to riding a horse along the deserted tropical pacific coast. Drift along side the lapping water and enjoy the sea breezes. Ride early in the morning and spot the flocks of scarlet macaws that make their home in the surrounding almond trees. Then it is time to move up to the Quepos area and Manuel Antonio Park. From here we enjoy a wonderful ride through the jungle to the breathtaking Valmy waterfall - sit and rest while listening to the relaxing sounds of the waterfall as it cascades into the small lagoon below. Our last ride will be in the area of El Rodeo, where we ride through incredible forest next to the University of Peace to Piedras Negras. The horses love the cool river where they can splash around and rest. Troupes of monkeys often pass through these beautiful trails.

This is a great short riding getaway that can easily be combined with other rides or activities while in Costa Rica.
