Anguillara Equestrian Country Estate
Lazio
Italy
Treat yourself to a riding holiday at a beautiful country club hotel - just north of Rome!
The elegant equestrian center and hotel has extensive show-jumping and cross-country facilities with a wide range of experienced and well trained horses. From October to May you can also extend your riding package and participate in the exciting local Drag Hunt!
The estate is perfectly situated only an hour from Rome, between the lakes of Bracciano and Martignano and offers a surrounding countryside excellent for horseback riding and with a wealth of history - Etruscan tombs, ancient Roman paved roads, fortified medieval villages and renaissance manor houses! The riding center, located conveniently within the hotel grounds, was the first in Italy to be given British Horse Society approval. Their extensive stable houses a top selection of horses ranging in size from agile 14hh ponies to mighty 18hh Irish Hunters and Jumpers. There are impressive facilities, including two large all-weather arenas, a comprehensive show-jumping arena and a thrilling cross-country course. The hotel estate extends over some 360 acres. Throughout the year, they offer a week long "Riding on the Estate" program offering a total of 18 hours of riding which can be any combination of instruction in show jumping or cross-country and relaxed hacking over the estate's beautiful landscapes. The hotel has 25 en-suite rooms available and seven suites that can be upgraded to, each suite with their own entrance to the garden. The food and wines offered by the restaurant are of excellent quality and another real highlight. Please note that the half-board option has a set menu, but if you prefer you can choose an a la carte menu option (additional cost). There is a swimming pool open in summer and the Wellness Center offers a welcome relaxation after a day in the saddle!
This country estate is an ideal base for non-riders, although you would probably find a rental car necessary to really enjoy yourself to the fullest. Activities available locally include fishing and sailing on Lake Bracciano, golf (at a selection of local courses), guided hikes, bike tours and cooking classes. Rome is only an hour away by train and we encourage you to visit this amazing city on your non-riding day!
