Roman Getaway Ride
Lazio
Italy
Coming to Italy and visit Rome? Why not take a short break away from the busy city life and immerse yourself into the country life at this wonderful four-star country estate. It is a short train ride from the center of Rome and you are at one of the most pristine places of Lazio at the Lake of Bracciano, with its castles and warm waters. The estate and surrounding countryside offer
some great riding and a wealth of history - Etruscan tombs, ancient
Roman paved roads, fortified medieval villages and renaissance manor
houses.
Professional guides and instructors are ready for you. You chose if you want to improve and take lessons in dressage, jumping or cross country or take some leisurely trail rides across the large estate. From October to May you can even participate in a Drag Hunt (Saturdays only).
The food and wines offered by the
restaurant are excellent and a real highlight of the holiday. There is a swimming pool open in summer and the Wellness Center offers welcome relaxation after a day in the saddle.
This country estate is an ideal base for non-riders, although you would
probably find a rental car necessary for maximum enjoyment. Activities available locally
include fishing and sailing on Lake Bracciano, golf (at a selection of
local courses), guided hikes and bike tours. On Wednesdays you have also an option to participate in a traditional "Cooking Class".

Centrally located on the western coast of the Adriatic Sea, Lazio boarders to the east with Abruzzo, the north with Tuscany and briefly borders Marche to the north-east, Campania and Molise to the south, and extends down the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west.
While the overall climate of Lazio is considerably mild, the difference of humidity and temperature between the coastal towns and the inner cities is incredible. Rain is scarce along the coast and through the lowlands, in contrast to the inner and mountainous areas where rainfall is more abundant, particularly during the spring and winter months. Along the coast the climate is warm year around providing a truly fresh environment. Rome on the other hand, like other typical inland cities, has average temperatures ranging from 39° in mid-January and increasing to over 85° on average during the summer months.
Please bring your own riding boots/chaps, jodhpurs, cap or helmet!
