The Dordogne, also known as the Perigord is without doubt one of the most interesting and diverse regions in the world. The Vezere Valley in the "Perigord Noir" is with it's more than 250 UNESCO sites of interest, the undisputed "Prehistoric Capital of the World". Prehistoric dwellings, caves, rock shelters and lots more, most of which are only accessible on foot. However, Dordogne has much more to offer than just relics from the Prehistoric era, castles, bastides, medieval towns & villages, all of these,and lots more, all in the stunning and amazing scenery the Dordogne is famous for, hills, clifts, windy rivers, great weather, friendly locals, and lots more make the Dordogne one of the most interesting and exciting places in the world.
Les Eyzies
It is commonplace for Les Eyzies to be introduced as the world's prehistoric capital and the numerous painted caves and, particularly, the proliferation of rock shelters only confirm this notion. The most varied prehistoric, and historic, styles and periods are represented, making Les Eyzies the archetypal town for travelling through the past. This vast, motionless promenade will enable us to appreciate more thoroughly the passing of prehistoric time. From La Micoque to Laugerie-Basse. from 300,000 to 5000 years B.C., prehistory at Les Eyzies lasted sixty times longer than history and one hundred and fifty times longer than the Christian era.

Day 1: Arrival in the afternoon in Souillac.
Once at your hotel you can take some time to visit the Benedictine monastery from the 12th century. See the remarkable abbey-church with fine carvings, and a statue of the prophet Isaiah, a masterpiece of the Romanesque art. Dinner included and night in a charming hotel.
Day 2: Souillac – Salignac 30 km
Your first day riding is easy and follows Valley with many visits but important: you have plenty of time to spend in your destination, the gardens of Eyrignac. Nice castle to visit when you arrive in Salignac.
Day 3: Salignac – Les Eyzies 47 km
A leisure ride today to St Genies, a typical village and then nice impression from the castel of Losse in the valley of the Vézères River. Beautiful panorama along the way until La Roque-St-Christophe, fantastic cliff with so many grottesal point is Les-Eyzies – which wonderful place. At Les Eyzies de Tayac, world prehistoric time center, discover the well-known archaeological wealth and underground caves.
Day 4: Ride around Les Eyzies
A longer ride today, you will want to start early to spend more time in Les Eyzies for visiting the grottos. Be sure to visit the chateau village of Beynac perched up on a cliff top as well.
Day 5: Les Eyzies – Sarlat - Vitrac 34 km
The ride from Les Eyzies takes you through Montignac where along the way is the famous Lascaux and Lascaux II grottos. In Sarlat, medieval town, you have a variety of sites and great ambiance typical of the Perigord.
Day 6: Around Vitrac 37 km
You can visit the grottos of Cougnac and then you come to the Dordogne River Valley where you start to discover many of the area chateaux. You will have time to visit the Chateau and fortified village of Domme overlooking the river. La Roque Gageac is an old river port pressed against the cliffside.
Day 7: Vitrac – Souillac 32 km
Returning now to the starting point, you will follow the Dordogne River and along the way pass the chateaux of Veyrignac and Fenelon. Return to same hotel as first night with dinner again.
