Pyrennean Mountain Trail

Pyrennean Mountain Trail
Catalonia Spain
Forget everything that you know about mountain riding - this trail is as special as they get. The Pyrenean Mountain Trail is a chance to discover on of Catalonia’s most spectacular regions. Two distinct landscapes appear during this ride: the mighty peaks of the Pyrenees and the warm, wooded hills of Garrotxa. We begin at the gateway of the Pyrenees, the Alta Garrotxa region, where the floodplains of the Fluvia River offer a lively start to the trail. We continue with canters across meadows and up to the spectacular gorge of Sant Aniol. A later arrival at the village of Beget, a gem of Romanesque architecture, introduces us to an area filled with architectural heritage, churches, castles and monuments abound. The following days see us travel upwards and onwards to mountain peaks, through beech forests and along clear mountain streams that invite a welcome swim or siesta. We enjoy a visit the old smuggler’s village, Espinavell, only 5 kilometers/3 miles from the French border, where we taste the local homemade liquor. Along the way we also stay in Camprodon, a bustling market town, where local shopping is the perfect outing before a taste of the fun and lively nightlife.

This trip not only pleases the equestrian lover, but also those looking for a unique gastronomic experience. Each mountain hotel provides plentiful food of the highest culinary standard with the opportunity to taste many different delicious Catalan specialties.

The Pyrenean Mountain Trail is tailor made for the equestrian who loves gorgeous horses, beautiful mountains and countryside and Mediterranean cuisine – all infused with a little bit of adventure!

This trail is a mix of paces including exciting gallops and also leading your horse on foot. This requires a fit and healthy rider so that all participants enjoy the trip as much as possible.
