Hacienda Buena Suerte Southern Spain Spain This unique hacienda is situated in the heart of  a very beautiful part of Southern Andalusia, just 50 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera and nestled between the Sierra Morena and the Sierra Nevada. Surrounded by a lovely countryside and among oak and centenary olive trees, well away from the standard tourist track, this is a perfect destination for people looking for a relaxed getaway with good quality horses and experienced instructors.  The hacienda was once the home to Jean Claude Dysli - a world champion in Western riding! Today your are welcomed by his wife Magda and daughter Kenzie. The riding program has developed into a wide range of disciplines. You can chose from Classical or Spanish dressage, Western riding and Doma Vaquera, or Natural Horsemanship. The horses are of a quality rarely found in public centers. The training is designed for riders that want to either fine tune their dressage level, advance in Western competition riding or learn more about the origins of the Spanish riding with its long history in dressage and the working  vaquero. Transfer Option:

Transfers can be arranged from Jerez or Seville, but we recommend to rent a car for greatest flexibility and sightseeing trips.

Whether you are a beginner or experienced rider we will create an individual riding program to suit your desires and needs.The groups are never more than 3 riders. You will have riding lessons twice a day (on 5 days during the week). This could be a combination of natural horsemanship, lessons in western riding, spanish dressage riding and trail riding. 
 
Classical Dressage
Individual and group lessons are available for riders of an intermediate and better riding level. 
 
Doma Vaquera & Spanish Dressage
Doma Vaquera is Spain's oldest art of riding. This riding technique is used when working with cattle or bulls, the so called "toros bravos". A very well trained horse is needed for this riding style; riding with weight distribution and thigh pressure with little bridle. Most suited are mixed breeds, such as Anglo-Hispano and Hispano-Anglo-Arabians. This riding style requires a high degree of discipline and connection to the horse. It can be compared to S-level Dressage and riders should have good prior riding experience. Doma Vaquera training sessions are offered to advanced riders only. During the lessons you learn the following elements: collect your horse at walk, trot, canter, canter pirouettes, traverse, flying changes etc. You have with Magda Dysli a teacher at your side, who teaches you with a lot of knowledge and patience to ride with easy helps. 
 
Western Riding
There are 2 different courses in Western Riding
 a. Introductory course for beginners and newcomers.
Beginners or fearful riders learn the handling with the horses from beginning. The base is Natural Horsemanship. In these lessons we teach you to comunicate with the horse in his language. Step by step you learn to ride with invisible helps. You ride without saddle and train your natural balance in our round pen or in the arena. In the western lessons you learn the basic of all reining maneuvers.
 b. Specialized courses: reining, cutting, working cow horse.
This courses includes western dressage and you can improve your knowledge in special western disciplines. Twice a day you have riding lessons with Raphael Dysli or Bernd Sema, teachers with very profound experiences in western riding under the supervision of  Jean-Claude Dysli (world champion in Western riding). Both of them teach  „reining“ dressage; circle, gallop-changes, sliding stops, spins and rollbacks. 
 
Natural Horsemanship Program
Horsemanship means: „fairness“ from you to your partner - the horse. In this course you learn to communicate with your horse in his language. For horses time pressure does not exist, so you work without a time schedule. We train your reaction. With the calmness and concentration you form a partnership with your horse in harmony and balance. 
 
Additional riding options:
Of course trail riding is always available for nice daily outings. 
You can substitute:  2 instruction sessions = a three hour trail ride
 
There are full day trail rides available that you can participate in during the week (pending on other riders wanting to sign up as well - min is 3 riders).
 An all day trail ride with picnic = 2 instruction session +Euro 55 to pay locally
 
 **Thursdays is a day of rest on the Hacienda. On this day you'll have the opportunity, to go and experience the exhibition of the Classical Spanish Dressage in the Riding school of the Castlepark "Las Cadenas" in Jerez (best to have a rental car). 
 There is no riding on arrival and departure days.
 
There is no riding during the hot summer months of July and August - non riding rates would apply.

In Spring, Autumn and especially in the summer months, it can get very hot, so to avoid feeling sweaty and sticky all the time, try to stick to natural fabrics, especially cotton. There are   
many fantastic new products on the market, including full cotton seamless underwear, which is a blessing for the trail rides. Don't forget about fine cotton socks, too.

Trousers:
Of course, nothing beats the comfort and protection that proper cotton breeches or jodhpurs afford for riding, but if you don't intend to ride much after your holiday, you can get by with cotton tracksuit bottoms or leggings.

Tops:
Should be fairly fitting, and it is better to have at least half sleeves for protection to the shoulders against sunburn or low hanging branches on the trail rides. Even in the summer, they are just as cool and for the ladies, are much more "supportive" and comfortable so you can concentrate on learning in your classes. If you come in winter, it's good to bring tops you can wear in layers, T-shirts, sweatshirts and vests. Sometimes it is quite cold and suddenly it gets hot, so it's good to be able to add or subtract quickly.

Helmet:
This is obligatory by law in Spain, though not always put into practice, but here in Epona safety of our guests is our first priority, so it is mandatory for all riding. Light colours reflect the sun and keep your head cooler and cooling vents are a huge plus when riding in hot conditions. Also, some helmets come with a detachable net lining, which can be rinsed out everyday?. Fantastic! We do have a few helmets to lend, but it is much preferable for each person to have his/her own, as a good fit is essential If you are buying a new helmet, do try various different trademarks and models as they come in different shapes and you should find the one which fits the shape of your head.

Footwear:
Short jodhpur or paddock boots are the best option as they are much cooler and easier to transport, but if you are serious about your riding, we recommend that you use half-chaps along with them If you do not have riding boots and do not want to go to the expense of buying some, you must bring string shoes or boots with a small, 1cm heel and no buckles. Please note, sneakers, canvas shoes or sandals are NOT acceptable, even for beginners.

Gloves:
We recommend you wear gloves at least for the classes. We will be teaching you to ride a horse correctly on the bit which requires a good contact, and if you are not accustomed to this, plus the warmer conditions, blisters can develop on the first day, which will definitely spoil you enjoyment of the riding for the rest of the week

You are welcomed by Magda Dyslie and daughter Kenzie (both are accomplished riders and instructors - Kenzie at the age of 16 is already as a well known specialist in Natural Horsemanship).

The hacienda accommodates up to18 guests in private comfortable rooms.
The 100+ year old main building was nicely renovated and has a great atmosphere. This is the evening meeting point and dining area for guests. It has a small "help yourself" bar, piano and seating area with DVD payer. During the off season the hacienda is home to a group of musicians from Holland that entertain several evenings a week.  Next to the main dining room there is a games room with pool table, an Arabian Tea room, a sauna and garden pavilion.

Gourmets not only get treated with the diverse Spanish specialties, but also with delicious and original meals from all over the world, from Arabian Couscous over to Flemish to the French Bouillabaisse. The whole year over the ranch has fresh vegetables out of their organic garden and meat from the completely natural living herds of sheep and cattle.
**Between 9 and 10 o'clock we will serve you a full breakfast. At lunchtime you'll find a variety of diverse specialties and a salad bar, including cool drinks. At Teatime there will be coffee, tea and cakes. In the evening we will serve you delicious meals with wine and dessert.

Even non-riders can enjoy themselves here. There is a saltwater swimming pool (open from April to November), as well as seminars in Natural Healing, Hatha-Yoga, Taiji, as well as Spanish language courses. You can also rent bikes to explore the countryside. We would also recommend to rent a car to explore the many sights ion the area. It is not far from Jerez, Seville, Ronda or Cordoba.

Passport valid for at least three months beyond length of stay required by all nationals referred to in the chart except:

This evidence can take the form of a valid national passport or national identity card. Either is acceptable. Passports held by EU nationals need only be valid upon entry to and exit from Spain. Possession of a return ticket, any length of validity on their document, sufficient funds for the length of their proposed visit should not be imposed.
