Introduction
Kaernten
Austria
We open the doors for you into the fascinating and mystic world of the Grossglockner and the High Tauern Mountains - outdoors, as we understand it. Come and discover the Moelltal valley surrounded by the High (Hohe) Tauern National Park. The imposing mountains of the High Tauern range provide a splendid backdrop for a truly enchanting vacation on beautiful horses. The High Tauern National Park lies in the heart of the Austrian Alps. Covering an area of 1800 square kilometers it is the second largest mountain range in Europe. It is a landscape made up of Austria's highest mountains, wide glaciers, Alpine pastures, rocks, waterfalls, and ancient cultural landscapes. The difference in elevation from the deepest valley stream to the top of the "Grossglockner" (11,400’) mountain peak adds up to almost 7,800 feet.
Enjoy your vacation in a cozy romantic equestrian hotel with individually furnished rooms and friendly hosts. Discover the beauty of the national park on the back of Haflinger horses. You will certainly remember the Neunbrunn water falls, the Apriach mills, the canyons, or the excursion up the Grossglockner Mountain. The “Panorama Starride” week includes 6 day rides that visit new breathtaking areas each day.
Some weeks are available with a 3 day overnight trip into the grand mountain scenery of the High Tauern - a great combination of star rides from the riding center and overnight mountain rides with lodgings in high alpine huts.

Climate: During the summer months, the Hohe Tauern mountain region radiates an incredible vital force: innumerable flowering plants put out vividly coloured blossoms, enticing insects to pollinate them with their strong scents. Dazzling seas of flowers cover the mountain meadows. Snow grouses flock together on their courtship grounds, marmots sun themselves on flat rocks, while ravens perform real aerobatics. The flora and fauna show themselves in all their magnificence and vitality.
Austria enjoys a temperate Central European climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot with cool nights. In Vienna and other low-lying cities temperatures during the day can get very hot over July and August. Winters are cold, below freezing in January and February. The ski season in the Alps runs from December to April but the mountains are also popular with hikers and climbers over the summer when the weather is usually warm and bright.
