Enjoyed the most: The trail rides in the woodsBothered you: Too hot! Food choice a little limited.Comments: I was impressed that they catered for a range of abilities. My daughter loved it! I doubt if I'll get on a horse again although it was much better than I had anticipated (non-rider).
Enjoyed the most: Quality of the lessons and the setting of the Inn.
Bothered you: Nothing
Enjoyed the mostThe last day I went on a 3 hour ride around the lake with an excellant guide.
Bothered youWe had a couple of different guides and went out with different riders each day. One ride was particularely bothersome because of being paired up with an inexperienced rider so the guide would't let us do anytheing but walk. This frustrated me. The next day, however made up for it. That was an excellent ride!Comments:I was on four different horses. Two were excellent, one was good, and one was only satisfactory.
Enjoyed the most: The riding. The trails were very good (although one was extremely hilly with lots of rocks and mud, it had rained the first day we arrived). The ability to ride different horses on the trail rides.
Bothered you: Can't think of much. The rooms were sparse but comfortable and we spend very little time in the room anyway. The staff in the Inn were great.
Enjoyed the most: The three-hour trail ride.
Enjoyed the most: trails thru woods. cross country lesson
Bothered you: tack for trail horses was worn out
Groups were done by ability, so fun trail rides with lots of good gallops.
Enjoyed the most: Accommodations were excellent and the food was excellent. The amount of riding was great too. I was really able to get my fill.
Bothered you: The rain! But having no control over that, I wish some of the trails were less buggy (some of them were pretty annoying). Other than that, nothing bothered me.
Thanks for putting together this package
We enjoyed everything. We received some great lessons and has some awesome trail rides. The restaurant in the inn was fabulous. We extremely pleasant and tended to every need. I would definately recommend this vacation to someone else. We truly had a wonderful time.
Enjoyed the most: The beautiful atmosphere, the service, food, accomodations. I had an especially wonderful private riding lesson.
Bothered you: Not a huge deal, but I was placed with riders of all varying levels which hindered the ride somewhat.
Enjoyed the most: The trails were good with nice woodland canters and both Mike who took us trail riding and Louise who gave us a couple of lessons were excellent. My husband who is a novice greatly gained in confidence. My highlight was a carriage driving lesson which I traded for one of my trail rides - I didn't know you could do driving there - maybe it is something you could mention?
The trip was exactly what I wanted. I loved the combination of lessons and trail rides. Plus, I was the only riding guest during my stay. I received great personal service.
Enjoyed the most: My favorite moment was the 2-hour fast paced ride led by Mike. The canters were amazing; the scenery, breathtaking. My second favorite moment was when when my boyfriend, who does not typically ride, asked to do some trotting on our last trail ride. At the end of the trail, we (the two of us and Mike)were riding parallel to each other. He got a big grin on his face and exclaimed, "Hey, we're the three amigos! This is awesome." :) There were two people in particular who helped make the whole experience absoultely perfect: Lin at the Activity Center and Mike the trail guide. I can't wait to see them again next year!
Bothered you: there was a mis-communcation
Enjoyed the most: The staff in the horseback riding stables, trail guides, and instructors were outstanding!! And, the trails and the scenery were magnificant.
Bothered you: While the quality of the meals in the dining room was certainly fine, the service provided by the staff was greatly diminished in quality by the extreme rudeness of one waitress.
Enjoyed the most: I had a wonderful instructor.
Bothered you: The food. The restaurant did not live up to expectations. Service was extremely slow.Comments: Horse-wise, I vas very happy. Natural setting, brilliant. The inn itself was good but...the restaurant...
Enjoyed the mostThe quality of the horses. The guides, especially Mike.
Bothered youWe had one "off" riding experience. We were taking a ring lesson on a hot day. The lesson horses were not interested in doing their job. We felt the instructor should have either had "ready" lesson horses or offered to re-schedule. As it was, the lesson was not very helpful. CommentsWe did not have the right expectations; they were too low! We did not expect the quantity and quality of the riding we would be able to do. The reality far exceeded our expectations.
Enjoyed the mostThe long rides through the forested roads and trails. We never had more than 4 other riders with us, plus a guide. On several rides, it was just my 10-year old daughter and me and a guide. The scenery was spectacular! We had some nice long trots and canters in varied terrain. One day we rode in the rain, and the forest was enveloped in fog. It was really magical! We each (eventually) found a horse that we loved to ride. And most important of all, a guide named Mike, who was also the stable manager. He was fun, knowledgeable, and was all about creating the best experience possible for clients. The other guides and instructors were also good, but Mike was in a league of his own.
Bothered youThe daily breakfast was disappointing. The buffet was not very extensive, and exactly the same for 5 days. Not until the last day did we realize that we could order items not on the buffet - such as oatmeal and other things to provide more variety!Comments:A really wonderful vacation! Fantastic riding, and very nice accomodations.
Enjoyed the mostThe setting where the inn is located. It is absolutely beautiful. I did enjoy the riding very much, but 7 rides in 5 days meant we repeated some of rides because of the limited number of available trails on the property.
Bothered youWe had at least two rides in which inn guests signed up for intermediate rides and clearly were not intermediate riders.
Comments:It was an excellent trip...but the riding was highly dependent on the group who signed up for any particular ride--and the level of the rides varied widely.
Enjoyed the mostRelaxed atmosphere, excellent trail rides, super friendly staff. During the trail rides, our guide tought us about flora and fauna in the area. Very interesting. The hotel upgraded us to a suite, which topped our stay there.
Bothered youThe training area for our dressage class was also used as paddock for horses when not being ridden in and difficult to ride in. The instructor for cross country jumping could have been more demanding and given us more challanging jumps.CommentsI didn't know what to expect, but I was delighted.
Enjoyed the mostThe guides (Amelia, Jess, Kaitlyn) were excellent. They were friendly, but were in control. It is obvious that they all love their job and the horses.
Bothered youAnother rider one of the days was a 7 year old child - he rode unsafely, complained, and interrupted people who were speaking (but the guides dealt with him very professionally).CommentsI was very pleased with the all the riding experiences. From my observations, the horses are well cared for. The resort is nice - the scenery is awesome. I was a little disappointed in the accommodations (cabin). I didn't know what to expect - but overall enjoyed my vacation, and would probably go back there again.
Enjoyed the most: The gorgeous scenery and estate. We went paddling around the lake and felt like it was our own private place. That my boyfriend who was a beginner was cantering the first lesson and was able to gallop out in the field with me by the end of the week (his horse was an angel!).
Bothered you: I would have preferred to learn more from the lessons and have the instructor put me through some more rigorous exercises.Comments: The Inn and grounds are absolutely stunning. The service was very personal an attentive. We went during the week which was quiet and relaxing. I am an advanced rider and my companion was a beginner. I didn't learn much from the lessons but had a good time riding in their beautiful fields, jumping some interesting jumps like the adarondack chairs and a wagon. My boyfriend who was the beginner, had an awesome horse and learned a whole lot. I think if you are an advanced rider and want to train, this is not the place. However, if you are a novice or just want to have fun and relax and pop over small/medium x-country jumps it's a perfect riding experience!
Enjoyed the most: The scenery. We enjoyed our time away, and while it wasn't as exciting as our trip to Mendocino with you, it fit our time frame and budget.
Bothered you: Limited options for where we could ride.
Enjoyed the most: Very pleasant guides.
Enjoyed the most:
The trail rides. The guides were delightful young ladies.
Bothered you:
Having trouble with DVD and Tv but they were quick to send someone to fix it. By the end of the week, I missed cell service a bit.
Comments:
I found customer service, especially Camille, to be outstanding. An excellent company to work with. I am currently on my second trip with Hidden Trails and am planning on more.
Enjoyed the most
The views of the mountains, and having a special trip with my daughter.

We really enjoyed ourselves. The guides were great. Our room was nice. The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly.
The location, the horses and the riding were great! The horseback lessons were superb. We loved our guides and teachers. The service at the lodge was excellent all the way around.
Bothered you
As above, the lack of vegetarian option.
Everything was excellent. The food that was served was excellent but we did specifically request vegetarian meals and there were really only one or two choices (and the same one or two choices) at each meal for vegetarian options. Barring salads of course--and I don't think a salad counts as a vegetarian meal!
So many things, but to pick just a couple: the absolutely stunning landscape and obviously well cared for horses.
There are a lot of other awesome things to do at the resort but they mostly run the same times as the rides. If you want to take advantage of non-riding activities I suggest adding an extra day or being really ready to book it over lunch.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to Bree from Hidden Trails who helped me arrange some lessons at a time when the site wasn't officially running them. Her assistance and responsiveness will mean I'll be looking to Hidden Trails as an agency in the future. Overall the trip was absolutely amazing - good enough that I may go back again. My only minor and very specific complaint: the vegetarian meals were amazingly delicious but slightly repetitive over the course of a week. Thank you!
The staff was friendly. The people in charge of the stables were outstanding. I would highly recommend this place and riding adventure to anyone.
Teaching staff at stables were excellent
Being significantly inconvenienced by weddings at the same resort
Resort is a major wedding venue which impacted on the availability of service to my party
The riding
I has a spa treatment and the time for the treatment was very short
The entire trip was incredible. The views were out of this world.
Nothing
We liked the house we stayed in, the meals, the choice of activities for everyone including those people who actually rode horses.

It was wonderful. Our "cabin" was a beautiful house, the horses were fantastic. The guides were great. The area was beautiful.
Having to go home.
The trail rides and dinners.
Dinners only allowed for an entree, no salad or dessert.
Enjoyed:We could not have a lesson so that lesson horses and instructor were not ready in May.However, trails were so beautiful at the Green Mountain area. Horses were well trained and so beautiful.
Bothered:None.
Other Comments:Green Mountain upgraded the room for viewing the lake. And restaurant menu and staffs were so great.Prompt and kind service
Enjoyed the most: The gorgeous scenery, the great staff at the stable and the fabulous food!
Bothered you: Nothing!
Comments: Thanks!
