Enjoyed the most

It's hard to pick the best part of such a fabulous vacation but for me the hospitality of our host had to be the hi-light of this trip. Jane did everything she could to ensure our holiday was a success.

Bothered you

That it didn't last longer.

Enjoyed the most:
Riding every day, then meeting up with the rest of the group to enjoy local wine and sausages to share and compare our experiences for the day.

Bothered you:
This trip was really REALLY great, but the ride was slower than I'd hoped for.
HT comment: [that was due to the rider level of a few in the group - it was a private group]

Comments:
This was a great trip for a group of riders/non-riders to enjoy together. The countryside was amazing; the people were super friendly... the food/wine was awesome!
Thank you Hidden Trails, for a fabulous experience!

Enjoyed most: The horse-riding and sceneries, and Benedette's cooking.

Bothered by: Two lunch stops did not have toilets.

Comments: Jane is a good host.

Enjoyed the most: Riding through the French countryside of the Dordogne region.

Bothered you: I was the only American on the ride. All the other guests were British.

Comments: Jane Hanslip is an excellent host. She is quite familiar with the region and the people. She made sure we were always well fed and comfortable. Le Bourdil Blance is a very lovely place to stay.  Our guide, Antoine Delpit, is a professional rider and very familiar with the countryside.  He was also wonderful with both the  horses and the people.  He did much to add to the excellence of the trip.  The riding was everything I had hoped for.  Being able to ride past chateaus and through small villages was just what I was hoping for.  The rides were nice combinations of trots, canters and gallops.

Enjoyed the most: The countryside was absolutely beautiful. Our guide Antoine was very knowledgable about the area so madd the trip more interesting with his commentary.

Bothered you: The weather could have been nicer - it was constantly raining.

Irene Cunningham 10/27/2007

Enjoyed the most: The riding, the pace (lots of trotting and cantering) and the scenery were superb. The dinners and meeting other guests from other countries was most enjoyable.

Bothered you: Nothing. I loved it.

Comments: Trip was absolutely fantastic.  Jane and everyone we met through her were delightful, helpful and friendly.  The riding was superb.  My only regret is that we didn't have more leisure time to enjoy Jane's lovely maison.  Maybe morning ride a couple of mornings with lunch back at her place with the afternoon off to lounge would be nice.

Enjoyed the most: Jane was the best, went out of her way to ensure all guests were happy at all times (she even drove me to a doctor when I fell ill!!!). Burnadette's meals were out of this world. The horses were very fit and the guides made each ride such a joy.

Bothered you: I would have liked to see the daily rides 3 to 4 hours max. It would have been nice to relax a bit and enjoy the beautiful pool & tennis court. There was hardly enough time to grab a shower (if sharing a room), and get down to a late dinner (8:30-9:30pm).

Enjoyed the most: The rides!

Bothered you: The Bourdil Blanc offered such a serene, exquisite place to relax. We did not have sufficient "downtime" to enjoy all the possibilities.

Comments: The countryside and forests were exquisite. Jane made every effort to include her local friends in the evenings and we felt as if we were able to know the area in a much more personal way. The wine in that area is reknown. Antoine was a fantastic guide. He noticed everything about the riders and tack.  He was knowledgeable about the area and added so much to our experience.  I was unaware piror that the hostess was English. I had looked forward to a week of hearing and speaking a great deal of French.(I taught French for 25 years).
That in itself is not a problem, but a false expectation on my part. You are not offering a language immersion vacation here.
