Costa de la Luz Trail
Southern Spain
Spain
This new Spanish riding tour is based outside of the idyllic little town of Conil la Frontera - surrounded by serene nature, close to the beautiful, sandy beaches and the handsome pine tree forests of Roche. Discover the pleasing beauty of the area's horseback trails which will
surprise and charm you along the way. This ride caters to all enthusiastic riders that are
comfortable and find enjoyment in all the gaits - walk, trot and canter. Ride amongst the famous bulls in their green, summer pastures, canter along miles of wide open beaches with the refreshing salty breeze in your hair and explore along the
cliffs of the seaside village, Conil. Don't miss one of the famous Andalusian sunsets, most romantic and fulfilling. The horses
will stay out on the trail on the five days, while you are transferred back to the
riding center for your overnight stays - so no hassle of packing your bags each day, it's all about enjoying yourself with the simple pleasures and beauty of Spain's Costa de la Luz.

Day 1 : Arrival in the afternoon. Get to know the host
and guides. Enjoy your first Andalusian dinner and overnight.
Day 2: To give you a chance to get used to your horses and get ready
for the 5 day trek, we will take you on a three hour ride in the Picadero and
through the forests of Roche with views over the Cap Trafalgar - on a clear day
you can see the coastline of Morocco in the distance.
Day 3: We leave the Picadero via the
cliffs that look out over the Conil beaches and travel through the pine forests
to Camila. Along the way we will stop for lunch at a bar/restaurant or enjoy a
picnic along the trail. Thee horses will stay for the night in Camila and the
guests will be transferred back to the Picadero for dinner and overnight. 7 riding hours
Day 4: Morning transfer back to meet your horses and
leave along forest trails for Los Naveros, a small village in the back country.
You will ride along the Cañada del Taraje to Gruyo with one of the most famous
breeding farms for the fighting bulls in the Cadiz area - they have 7000 to 9000
animals most of the time. Once in Los Naveros the horses will stay for the night
and again guests will be taken back to the Picadero. 4 riding hours
Day 5: We leave Los Naveros and ride to Najara across an
immense Spanish finca. For lunch we will stop at a 'Venta' (restaurant)
for tapas. In the afternoon we ride along cattle trails into a hilly countryside
until we reach Najarra, where the horses will stay for the night and we transfer
back for dinner and overnight to the Picadero. 7 riding hours
Day 6: Across fields and meadows we ride from Najara to the
small village of La Muela with a beautiful view over the beaches and coastline.
After lunch our ride continues on through the Naturepark to Zahora. 8 riding hours
Day 7: Our ride will lead us from
Zahora along the beaches towards Conil ending up back at the Picadero. If
you prefer to do the beach ride in the evening, we can arrange a visit to the
Spanish Riding School in Jerrez or take you to Tarifa for a dolphin boat trip -
then in the afternoon we get back to our horses and finish our ride. Overnight
at the Picadero for riders and horses. 4 riding hours
Day 8: Departure after breakfast.

Passport and Visa Requirements:
Passport valid for at least three months beyond length of stay required by all nationals referred to in the chart except:(a) 1. EU nationals holding a valid national ID card.Note: EU nationals are onl. more
An ideal climate for riding all year round: The frequent
winds between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic make it cool enough to
enjoy riding even during the hottest sunny periods. In winter the temperature
seldom drops below 15º C.
Good sun protection (gloves, sunscreen, hat
with a chin strap), sunglasses with straps, swimsuit, towel, shorts,
and a windbreaker should also be taken. A jacket or sweater for the
cooler evenings is recommended. A hard hat is not mandatory, but
recommended for safety. A belt pack in which to carry your camera and
other small valuables during the ride is handy. Attire is strictly
informal throughout, though if you are planning to visit other cities
on your own later you may wish to bring a jacket and tie. Regular film
can be obtained locally, but special sizes may not be available - bring
plenty to be safe! It is also a good idea to bring your own soap, since not all hotels
supply it.
