Western dancing. The
ranch takes great pride in their comprehensive

A unique feature of Colorado
Trails Ranch is the sense of family that develops
during the course of the week. With everyone
arriving and departing at the same time, strong
friendships develop among our guests (whether
they’re adults or children)… and you also feel like
you’ve joined our family and we’ve joined yours.
With a maximum of 55 guests and a 2-to-1
guest-to-staff ratio, we make everything easy for
you: easy to have fun, to relax, to try new
adventures and make new friends, to eat delicious
food, and to feel comfortable, cared for, and a part
of our family.
Riding &
Horses
Whether you’re a beginner or experienced rider, you’ll feel right
at home on our horses, enjoying the scenery as you ride through some of the
most beautiful country in Colorado. Our rides are grouped by ability, age,
and desire – and with 80 horses to choose from, we’re sure to find one that
suits you perfectly. We offer morning, afternoon, and all-day rides with no
more than six guests to a wrangler. The rides range from scenic walks to
loping through the trees and meadows, depending on what you’d like to do.
Horses — they are probably the main reason for your interest in a guest
ranch vacation. We love our horses and love sharing them with our guests.
Our program is tailored to accommodate all levels of ability and age groups.
You will enjoy our very personalized riding program geared to your
individual level of experience.
Beginning & First-Time Riders
If you have never ridden before or have limited experience, we will show
you the basics. You will find many of our guests are either first time
riders or have limited experience. We want you to feel comfortable on a
horse matched to your skills.
Our goal is to help you build confidence and expertise while riding through
meadows, along mountain streams and through our beautiful mountain forests.
Advanced Rider Program
As an experienced rider, you will be delighted by our progressive riding
program and challenging trails. A number of our guests are horse owners
themselves. They find our well-trained horses suited for their more advanced
skills. Many even enjoy working on their horsemanship skills with the
assistance of our qualified instructors.
We offer morning and afternoon rides, and even an all-day ride with never
more than six guests to a guide. The rides range from scenic walk rides
(with some TLC for those interested in a slower pace) to one-at-a-time
loping through the trees and meadows.
Much of your riding instruction will actually take place
out on the trail instead of in an arena. We emphasize different levels of
instruction based on classical equitation, while enjoying our spectacular
scenery, being safe and having fun. We do have a maximum weight restriction
of 240 pounds.
Our rides are grouped by ability, age and desire. Parents
are always welcome to ride with their children and we even offer a family
ride during the week.
If you can get Mary Carson (5 1/2) to ride like she did - you can do
anything...all three of my grandkids are planning to return. - J. Pitts

Beautiful Accommodations
The ranch is open for guests from June through
September.
During the peak summer season the ranch hosts 55 guests per week with
everyone arriving on Sunday and departing after breakfast the following
Sunday.
Our
beautiful mountain lodge overlooks a secluded valley. This is where we
gather for some of the most important ranch activities: Meals. Breakfast is
served buffet style, lunch and dinner, are served family style. It is always
your choice: you may eat together as a family or the kids may enjoy eating
with their counselor and friends. All of our meals are homemade (just like
grandma's) with healthy food and lots of it.
Cabins
Our cozy, beautifully decorated cabins will easily accommodate
families, couples and singles. All cabins have comfortable porches and
private baths for each bedroom, and daily housekeeping. Please call, we will
be happy to discuss your accommodation needs.
The ranch's twelve cabins can accommodate everything from
singles, to families of six, with the majority of summer visitors being
families. Our weeklong packages offer a comprehensive vacation destination
including accommodations, all meals, all on-ranch activities and gratuities.
Facilities include:
- heated swimming pool
- hot tub
- archery range
- rifle range
- basketball court
- laundry room (free washers and dryers and
detergent)
- cabins
- volleyball court
- horseshoe pit
- petting zoo (with goats and miniature horses
that kids love!)
Across from
the Lodge is our Trading Post and old-fashioned soda fountain. Here you will
find sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats and sundries plus real ice cream sodas and
phosphates. Next door, the Ruckus Room is a wonderful place for the kids to
gather between activities. They enjoy ping pong, air hockey, foosball and a
pool table but no video games. You will enjoy activities in our Opera House
and swapping "fish stories" while picking up your fishing gear in the
Blacksmith Shop. Our heated pool and whirlpool are ready to soothe your
muscles after a day filled with activities.
Meals
Breakfast may include: homemade
granola, cereal, toast, different kinds of homemade
breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, and a hot breakfast
item (such as homemade waffles, wrangler eggs,
French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage).
We have two breakfast cookouts: one is a pancake
cookout. The other is a CTR tradition – there’s a
family ride to the cookout, where you can get eggs
made to order, grits, Navajo fry bread, and grilled
kielbasa.
Lunch may include: homemade soup and
salad bar, Philly and chicken cheese steaks,
homemade pizza, grilled chicken breasts, burgers and
veggie burgers with all the fixings, Reuben and
grilled cheese sandwiches, tortilla wrap sandwiches,
and a taco bar. For dessert, there are fresh-baked
cookies, brownies, or lemon bars.
Dinner may include: prime rib, salmon,
specialty chicken dishes, pork, grilled tenderloin
and veggies, pasta, garden vegetables, homemade
breads, with a fresh green salad that changes
nightly. There are two cookouts during the week. One
starts with a hayride and features a cowboy singer
(and sing-along!). The other is our very special
farewell dinner, which you’ll get to experience on
Saturday night.
Desserts are homemade and may include:
fudge pudding cake with ice cream, turnovers,
cheesecake, ice cream pie, carrot cake, Napoleon
puff pastries, bread pudding, and apple pie.
With advance notice, we can accommodate special
dietary needs. We ask for as much information as
possible before you arrive; on your first evening
here, you can meet with our chef to discuss the best
options for the week ahead.
