Panhandle Bar H Ranch, Texas
Live The Cowboy Life Family Style!

For three generations, the Hommel family has called this rugged and scenic land in the heart of the Texas Panhandle home.
A wake-up call delivered by songbirds will replace your alarm clock.  The sweet, savory smell of campfire coffee instead will lure you out of bed. The chuck- wagon crew serves up a hearty Texas breakfast of eggs, sausage, hot biscuits and gravy to provide a solid foundation for a day of work or relaxation.
Depending on the season, you will have the opportunity to watch the cowboys work cattle, feed the livestock, mend fences, move the herd and engage in dozens of other ranch chores. You can climb in the saddle and join in the work, or just watch the cowboys at their work.
If you would rather spend your day relaxing, you can take a leisurely ride across the rolling prairie, sit on the porch by the pool, take a stroll along the creek, pitch horseshoes, play volleyball or wander down to the fishing hole. Custom-made wagons provide comfortable tours of the ranch for guests who are not partial to a saddle.
At the end of the day, you can watch a magnificent sunset settle across the broad horizon. Mesquite-grilled steak and all the trimmings wait at the chuck wagon. Homemade cobbler and a crackling campfire soothe the body and the mind as the crickets call and stars begin to twinkle in the big Texas sky. A climate-controlled bunkhouse awaits guests ready for a good night's sleep.

Summer invites you to enjoy the brilliant Swallowtails, Sulphurs, and Fritillaries, as multicolored butterflies feast on the nectar of the Plains’ flowering plants. Darners, Pennants, and a variety of other dragonflies make summer a feast of color.
Fall brings Migrant Shorebirds, Raptors, Flycatchers, and Warblers through the Plains, and washes the riverbanks in brilliant autumn foliage.
Winter will entrance you with Rough-legged Hawks, Bald Eagles, Wintering Sparrows, and the clearest nights, beckoning you to turn your eyes toward the brilliant, starry skies.

The ranch is also a game preserve licensed by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Temporary and permanent photo blinds are available for wildlife photography. Coyotes, quail, turkey, deer, prairie dogs, nocturnal wildlife spotting tours, and walks along willow-lined and cottonwood river bottoms are available. The staff is familiar with nature tourism and has worked with visiting birders from around the world; as many as sixty species have been seen in a day on the ranch.
