Itinerary for Tatshenshini Pack Trip

Sample Itinerary - subject to changes

Day 1: Introductory Ride
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before orientation, and a safety briefing with the horses that will be your companion for this trip. Then we load up and drive to the Tatshenshini River where our trip starts.
Enjoy a rushing river as you ride up a mountain valley. Grizzly bears are common so be ready with your camera! We ride about 2 hours and make camp in a grassy meadow by the river.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight Camping

Day 2: Glacier Ride
Wake up to the sweet smells of the Yukon, wildflowers, and the sounds of the rushing stream. The horses are prepared for the trail, so enjoy the spectacular views while you ride towards a massive glacier. We make camp in a beautiful grassy meadow, quite close to the glacier.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight Camping

Day 3: Rest Day
A day to sleep in and rest up while you soak in the amazing views and hike up to the glacier. Enjoy lunch in this breathtaking setting! At leisure, make your trek back to camp, where we will continue a peaceful evening by the fire.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight Camping

Day 4: Shinny Lake Ride
Pack up camp and follow the pack train to Shinny Lake. Again, there is a chance to see moose, bears, and mountain sheep… sometimes a wolverine, fox or wolf! You are close to the coastal mountains here, so the landscape becomes more unique as you ride further south. Enjoy a relaxing evening with the views and the coolness of the evening mountain breeze.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight Camping

Day 5: Shinny Valley
Sleep in or arise at leisure with the morning mountain aromas. Hike or enjoy a ride into the adventure of the valleys beyond Shinny, with potential to see mountain goat, sheep, moose, and grizzly bears.
Enjoy a nice relaxing dinner while the sun is still high in the Yukon sky.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight Camping

Day 6: Last Ride
Wake up to see that the sun is high in the sky – it never really goes away in the summer. Take it all in: the mountains, the valleys, the horses, and remember where you’ve been and where you are still riding, through more beautiful scenery back to the Tatshenshini trailhead. You can never take enough pictures!
Once back at the trailhead, we unpack and load up. On our way back, we can stop at Haines Junction for a delicious burger and fries (of course we will find something for the palate that does not agree).
You are welcome to stay the night in our Klondike cabin (extra cost might apply), which can include an evening meal. If you stay, we will drive you back to Whitehorse the next morning. If you wish to go to Whitehorse the night you get in from the trip, we will take you there.
Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch
