Sample itinerary - subject to changes

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival in the late afternoon to Wintzfelden (southwest of Colmar). Guests arriving by train to Colmar can be picked up at the train station at 6:30 pm. Welcome dinner and trip briefing in the evening.

Overnight at Hotel in Wintzfelden


Day 2: Wintzfelden to Orbey
After breakfast, we finally get into the saddle for a full day ride. This will take you through some of the most beautiful Alsatian villages, such as Riquewhir and Kayserberg, with their colorful half-timbered houses. Today, we cross a well-known wine-growing area that extends to the mountain Orbey. In the evening, relax with a glass of wine.

Overnight at a Gite near Orbey Mountain (single room possible in the village)


Day 3: Orbey to Aubure
Today's stage is rather hilly and leads us across various summits of the Ballons des Vosges. Beautiful views will accompany you on your way up to Aubure, where you spend the night.
Riding approx. 35 km
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at a Gite in Aubure (single room possible in the village)


Day 4: Aubure to Champ du Feu
Strengthened by breakfast, you will follow the former Vosges border on beautiful paths that invite you to a gallop. Up to the summit of Climont, over the Champ du Feu, you reach your accommodation.

Overnight at an Auberge in Ranrupt


Day 5: Champ du Feu to Oberhaslach
Today's beautiful riding day leads you back to the plain near Oberhaslach. Tonight, you are accommodated in a beautiful house with a pool. The dinner takes place in a family-like atmosphere: let yourself be pampered by the French cuisine.

Day 6: Oberhaslach to Birkenwald
After breakfast the horses are saddled and we continue our ride through Alsace. Today, we will cover 30 or 37 km (two possible paths) to Birkenwald.
There are quite a few canter opportunities and longer gallop routes can be found on this tour again and again. The endurance horses are excellently trained and guide you reliably to your destination. In Birkenwald, you stay in a hotel that is known for its delicious cuisine.

Day 7: Birkenwald to Ernolsheim les Savernes
The last riding day offers a smooth ride. Via Saverne, you enter the nature park of the northern Vosges. Enjoy the beautiful landscape until you reach Ernolsheim les Savernes. Departure in the evening after the ride, around 5:00 pm, from the train station of Strasbourg. If you want, you can book an extra night (not included - inquire for more info) and relax the next day.

Riding Level Explained
ABeginner
Beginner A rider who has limited experience, is unable to post the trot and does not canter.
BNovice
Novice A rider who is capable of mounting and dismounting unassisted, capable of applying basic aids, comfortable and in control at the walk, moderate length posting trots, and short canters.
CIntermediate
Intermediate A rider who has a firm seat, is confident and in control at all paces (including posting trots, two point canters and gallops), but does not ride regularly.
D Strong Intermediate
Strong Intermediate An intermediate rider who is currently riding regularly and is comfortable in the saddle for at least 6 hours per day.
EAdvanced
All of the above, plus an independent seat, soft hands, and capable of handlinga spirited horse in open country.
Lodging: Basic
Lodging Level Explained
   
= Facilities in lodges, estancias, haciendas, resorts, etc.
   
Basic lodging - some with shared bathroom facilities, usually no AC or room service.
Regular standard room - usually with private bath.
