Chianti Castles Ride & Wine Tasting

Chianti Castles Ride & Wine Tasting
Tuscany Italy

The beautiful farmstead of S. Margherita, built at the end of the nineteenth century and home of the riding center, is situated in the Chianti region located in the center of the Siena, Florence, Arezzo triangle.

Surrounded by meadows and woods, with views of a medieval castle, the farm is in the rare position to offer its guests the silence of nature broken only by the melody of birdsong, the neighing of horses and rushing of the river flowing nearby. Here you are welcomed to a week in rural Chianti country surrounded by horses, good company and some of the most famous castles and wine vineyards of Italy.

The scheduled weeks include and 3 full day rides and 3 half day rides, with sightseeing on some afternoons to  the medieval town of Siena and to a wonderful local spa. There will be wine tasting options, relaxation and if you like - a lively night out in Siena!
The intent of the riding holidays is to show to the rider the variety of territory we have to offer, rich in historical buildings and vines, olives trees and woods, villas, farms poderi and away from traffic and crowds - showing you some of the best Chianti wine farms and tasting  the superb wines they showcase. The riders stay in a comfortable country house,  tasting excellent Tuscany food and wines, riding the well trained horses which alternate their  holiday jobs during the year with competing in military or dressage, in a perfect combination of relaxation and discipline.

Riding Holiday Weeks:
If you cannot make it for the scheduled itinerary weeks, you can still choose any week of the year and opt for a relaxing riding week from the center with daily half day rides or tuition. We recommend you rent a car, because the sightseeing options are many: A wine tasting of the famous Brunello in Montalcino is only 40 minutes away. If culture and history call you, the medieval town of Siena is only a 20 minute drive from the riding center - go explore and take in the ancient atmosphere of the Duomo and the Plaza! If you time your visit right, you can even be part of the Palio horse race in Siena - what a spectacle! Excellent tuition is available to you every morning for 2 hours (more if you like) by Donatella Zambon, who is an accomplished equestrian and has taught hundreds of riders both beginners and advanced. She chooses and prepares her horses personally: once trained they are never sold!

Non Rider Options:  The location of the farm makes it an ideal base for cycling and hiking, and for those who wish to mix cultural tourism with outdoor pursuits.
