Sample Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival
Land at Cusco Airport and transfer to your hotel. Introductory meeting (approx. 45 minutes long) at El Mercado Hotel for 7:00pm.

Day 1: The Road To Soraypampa
Our representatives will pick you up from your hotel bright and early at 7:00am. Your first day is an exciting mix of culture and adventure. The day begins with visits to the Inca archaeological site of Quillarumiyoc, followed by an afternoon hike to Salkantay Lodge. Lunch is taken at El Pedregal in Mollepata. Late afternoon at leisure to enjoy the dazzling sunset over Salkantay Peak. 
Hike time: Approximately 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Meals included: Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Salkantay Lodge (12,690’/3,869m)


Day 2: A View from the top: Journey to the Salkantay Pass
Prepare yourself for a big day! After an early morning departure from the lodge, you will circle the Humantay glacier during your hike up the Rio Blanco river valley to the breathtaking Salkantay Pass (15,213’/4636m). Savor the views of the Salkantay glacier & Vilcabamba mountain range as you marvel at how far you have traveled. 
Hike time: Approximately 6 hours
Difficulty: Challenging

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Salkantay Lodge (12,690’/3,869m)


Day 3: Tranquility at Humantay Glacier Lake
Today brings a unique opportunity for adventure and reflection. A vigorous morning ascent up the slopes from the Soraypampa plateau is rewarded with your first view of the stunning turquoise waters of Lake Humantay (13,780' / 4200m). Take some time to meditate in the tranquility of this magical spot and participate in a traditional Pachamama ceremony to honor Mother Earth. Lunch will be taken at the lodge. You will be dropped off at your hotel (no overnight included) between 7:00pm-8:00pm.
Hike time: Approximately 5 hours
Difficulty: Moderate

Difficulty Levels Explained
1. Easy
Easy pace and an average-to-sedentary level of fitness. You should be in good health and fit enough for full day of normal sightseeing and walking.
2. Easy to Moderate
An average level of fitness or some experience with the featured activity is recommended.
3. Moderate
Requires you to have performed the featured activity regularly, with some periods on challenging terrain. Activities are mandatory and you may be traveling at high elevations. You need to be in good health and physical condition to enjoy these trips, with adequate muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance.
4. Demanding
You must be extremely physically fit and are expected to hike or ride four to six hours over steep or more rugged terrain.
5. Strenuous
Prolonged hiking/biking on moderate to difficult terrain (five to nine hours a day).
May include high altitude, rugged terrain etc..
