A Typical Day
Waking up in your comfortable room, you realise how easy it is to get up when someone else is cooking a full Highland breakfast for you! Over a relaxed breakfast, served at about 8am, the guide describes the day ahead, chosen with regard to the weather from a selection of options discussed with the group the previous evening.
Our destinations are varied in terms of scenery and grade but all of our ‘Wilderness Walking’ trips include certain key elements. The chosen walk will take you into a beautiful wilderness area, where wildlife abounds. Your knowledgeable guide will be able to identify any sightings and will take time to share stories of the history, geography and geology of the area with the group, which has a maximum of 8 clients. You will be carrying only a small daypack containing your personal gear, so will finish the route feeling satisfied but not tired out.
On return to the Guest House, there will be time to freshen up with a hot shower before dinner. The chefs use locally-sourced produce to create imaginative and memorable meals, a real highlight of the holiday. After dinner, you can relax with a drink, often admiring a Highland sunset before retreating to the lounge to discuss our day and the opportunities for tomorrow.
By the end of the trip, you will leave feeling that you know the area quite intimately. You will have enjoyed a range of coastal and glen level walks, admired magnificent scenery and laughed a lot during the relaxed evening meals. When the time comes to depart, we do hope that you will find yourself wondering which trip to come on next.
