Voldseth Working Ranch

Voldseth Working Ranch
Montana USA

Riding in Big Sky Country with other good riders who love to ride is an incredible experience. Come and enjoy the freedom of riding in open, unspoiled country where for generations ranchers have tended to the land, sheep, cattle and horses. You’ll ride not only on the beautiful Voldseth ranch, but also on the vastness of the Lewis and Clark National Forest. The views and the experience will stay with you forever.Since the 1870s, Voldseth ranch hands have worked cattle on this traditional Working Ranch. More than a century later very little has changed, except now a place is set at table for you. Today, this working ranch invites visitors who seek seclusion, comfort and personal attention to their individual needs and desires. In this relaxed atmosphere your will find unlimited riding.
Horses are ranch horses and are chosen for you by your level of ability. We have 'tried and true' for the beginners and 'good, fast' cow horses for the more advanced. There are new riding opportunities every day as well as team penning and cattle work. And no head-to-tail riding!!
Rides are varied for any ability, and half-day rides take place every day. Sometimes we organize an all-day ride that takes you to the Indian pictographs. Sweet-smelling cedar log cabins, and the best home-cooking for miles around, entice today’s visitors to this beautiful part of Big Sky country.
No schedules, here, just the opportunity to ride, fish or hike in the sparkling Montana air.
This family-operated ranch runs 1,300 head of cattle on 25,000 acres, and good riders are invited to join in and lend a cow-hand - the work is always there, but so is the fun! Once or twice a week you can join in on cattle work.
