Day 1  Introduction Ride
Check in to the Hotel is at 3pm. Begin your vacation with an introduction to your guide and horses and then a short ride to acclimatize you to the trails and the unique gait of The Tennessee Walking Horse. The introductory ride starts at 4:30 pm. This ride will take you on trails surrounded by the scent of the coastal sage and through canopies of pine trees overhanging with views overlooking the historic Pigeon Point Lighthouse and the Pacific Ocean.  Meet your guide and Blue-Sky Management again in the Cascade Restaurant at 6pm for a Wine and Cheese orientation together. After the orientation you may opt to stay for dinner or head in for the night with a dip in the hot tub then get a good night's sleep well in preparation for the next day’s ride.

Day 2 Ocean Views and Coastal Hills Ride
Ride begins at 10 am at the stables and meanders through the grassland with a gradual ascent. Topography gradually changes to a high mountain juniper as we reach the summit of panoramic views overlooking the Monterey Peninsula, the Pigeon Point Lighthouse and Año Nuevo State Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch while seated on a bluff overlooking a panoramic of the Pacific Ocean. The ride follows the ridge line for a short distance with picturesque views of the surrounding mountain range then loops down through a lush pine forest and back onto coastal trails with spectacular views of the coast.

Day 3 Redwood Exploration
Meet your guide at 10 am at the nearby trail head. The riding tour begins today at the trail junction to where the foothills met the Redwoods. The Ohlone people were the common tribe of Native Americans in this area, and it is worthy of note that although in contemporary times we love to explore and admire the Redwood forest, historically the natives stayed away from the deep Redwood canyons which could harbor predators and where it was more difficult to find food. Their preference was for the open grassy spaces, where they could find edible plants and game. The single-track trail shortly comes out on a wide fire road, which promotes time for conversation and photo opportunities. Along this gradual incline you can again experience the wonderful “rocking chair” canter of The Tennessee Walking Horse. You will stop for lunch at the top of the ridge and enjoy a backdrop view of canyons, ridges and the Pacific Ocean. Take in the contrasting high ridges among dry Manzanita and Knob Cone pines. There you will take in an unforgettable picture of the densely wooded Santa Cruz Mountains before the sweeping Pacific Ocean. In the Spring it is a unique experience to whale watch while on horseback as the Gray Whales swim off the coast on their 6,000 mile migration returning from the coves of Baja California en route North.

Day 4 Creek Side Ride (this is the last day for the 4 day ride)
Your day starts off at 10 am at a nearby creek mouth. Springtime rides are spectacular here as the nearby creeks are flowing strong and in some cases packed with Steelhead Salmon. The ride features a mix of double wide fire roads and single track trails which meander in and out of the shaded woodlands. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the trail and return by mid-afternoon.

Day 5 Guides Choice
Today your guide will offer you several options to choose from based on the conditions and weather. You are welcome to repeat a previous ride, or choose to ride a different trail again. We are always looking for new and interesting trails to ride, so we decided to leave the last day ride open to offer you such adventure. Departure time will be contingent upon tour destination

Day 6 Departure
Check out is at 12 noon. If your time permits, we can offer you an extra morning ride if space is available! Or in some rare cases where there is need due to adverse conditions or situations, we may move another day's ride to the morning of Day 6.  If so, you will check out before riding that morning.
 
This is only a sample itinerary, which may be adjusted at the discretion of your guide due to weather and safety factors. 

A shorter option is available for 2 or more riders including 3 nights accommodations and 3.5 riding days

Your overnights will be at a beautiful coastal lodge overlooking vast stretches of undisturbed shores and rolling coastal hills. It is adjacent to four state parks, a spectacular wildlife reserve and 30,000 acres of trails. The property grounds provide an outdoor scenic expanse close to nature where you can walk or relax, enjoying the sun, ocean views or evening stars and moonlight. The lodge features stylish comfort amidst natural surroundings.
The forty cozy lodge rooms are located throughout the two story North and South lodge buildings. Each of the rooms feature either a king or two double beds (upgrade), bathrobes, a mini refrigerator, Bose stereo, two-line telephone with voice mail, coffee maker, thermostat controlled heat, and double french doors which open onto a patio or deck. There are no TVs.
Suite upgrade option:  This first floor room opens onto a sitting room with sofa and arm chair, fireplace and desk. The bedroom features a four poster king bed with down bedding, which connects into the oversized restroom with dual sinks, bathtub/shower combination as well as an additional vertical shower for wheelchair accessibility. Both the bedroom and sitting room feature dual French doors opening onto neighboring patios and our lodge lawn. Additional amenities include bathrobes, Bose radio, mini refrigerator, two line telephone with voicemail, coffeemaker, thermostat-controlled heat, daily maid service and access to our outdoor hot tub and saunas. This rate is based on double occupancy and an extra person charge would apply for additional guests.

The outdoor hot tub is available to guests from 7am until 10pm each day and there are 24 hour dry saunas located in each of the comfort stations.
Wireless internet access is available in all of our lodge rooms and in surrounding areas.
Rooms are either on the first or second floor of the North or South Lodge buildings with North Canyon views facing Cypress Camp, East Ridge views overlooking the Lodge Lawn and the neighboring Ohlone Ridge or West Ocean views facing the west half of the resort and the ocean. We are happy to note any requests for a specific room but cannot guarantee it.

Cascade Bar & Grill
Cascade serves California coastal cuisine, local wines and maintains a commitment to using sustainable seafood & organic produce. Specialties include fresh local fishes, grilled meats and vegetables, gorgeous fresh salads, tantalizing homemade desserts, picnic items, gourmet coffee drinks, a kids friendly menu and much more.

The Costanoa Integrative Massage
Our classic full body massage blends the long gentle strokes of basic Swedish massage with other modalities such as Shiatsu, Reflexology, and Cranio-Sacral therapies. Shiatsu is a Japanese system of applying pressure with thumbs, palms and elbows to the body's meridian lines resulting in a state of energized balance. Reflexology is based on the philosophy that the hands and feet contain reflex points that affect the entire body and that by applying pressure to these points brings vitality and relaxation to the entire system. Cranio-Sacral therapy works gently on the soft connective tissues that surround the central nervous system, bringing relief while increasing circulation. Relax muscle tension, release stress held in muscle tissue, increase circulation and add moisture to your skin while treating yourself to an experience of serenity.

Couples can enjoy the convenience and intimacy of simultaneous massage in our Duet Massage Room. Couples treatments are available exclusively by appointment only and we suggest making your reservations at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure availability.

Deep Tissue
For those who enjoy deeper work, this is the ideal massage. Our therapists are trained in working with those extra tight or sore muscles on a deeper level and really smoothing out knots and kinks.

Aromatherapy Massage
Our classic Swedish massage with a choice of our exclusively formulated blends to help balance your body, mind and spirit. Oils of the highest quality are applied to the skin (our largest organ of absorption). They then enter the bloodstream to balance, energize and soothe. Warm towels are used to help open the pores and aid absorption of the oils.

Arnica Massage
When the muscles are sore and aching, before or after any strenuous activity, ARNICA has been a valuable herbal treatment to relieve muscle pain and soreness. The most potent and pure Arnica Oil from Dr. Hauschka will be used during this session that can be tailored to address your current areas of concern or just to prevent soreness before a day of fun and physical activity.

Dry Brush Massage
This simple yet powerful exfoliating treatment removes layers of dead skin and opens the pores to revitalize the skin and increase its capacity to eliminate toxins. Dry Brush Massage increases blood circulation throughout the body, while contributing to improved muscle tone and heightened sense of well-being. Take your natural bristle with you and continue this therapy at home.

Scalp Massage
Warm Scalp Oil, Pure Aloe Vera and Rosemary Mint Conditioner are massaged into the scalp to balance and restore the hair's natural vitality and shine. This nurturing treatment includes a brief neck and shoulder massage. We can also offer this as a Dry Scalp Massage that is still highly stimulating to the hair follicles and cranial tissues, but without the use of oils.

The Costanoa Sampler
The ultimate in pampering treatments includes the Dry Brush Massage, Aromatherapy Blanket Wrap and Scalp Massage all in one. We recommend this treatment to be followed by a brief trip to the Hot Tub and then possibly an Integrative Massage for total and complete bliss.

Costanoa Spa Guidelines and Suggestions
Before your session we recommend a soak in our Lodge Hot Tub and please avoid heavy meals, stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol and any intoxicating substances. After your session drink plenty of water and relax in some comfortable clothes. If possible give yourself some time to rest, integrate and enjoy the benefits of your session.

We recommend making appointments at least two weeks in advance as the schedule fills quickly and appointments are subject to a 24 hour cancellation policy and will be billed in full. Spa services can be billed directly to your room and treatment rates do not include gratuity.

Guided Naturalist Hikes
Explore the flora and fauna on the beach and coastal mountains near Costanoa with one of our the resident naturalists. The hikes focus on Native American history, coastal ecology, bird, plant and animal life offering a unique introduction to the surroundings.

Kayaking
The beaches around the resort fulfill a kayaker's dream: sea caves, tide pools, rocky islands, marine life and big rolling waves. While you should have some kayaking experience in the open ocean (wet exits and "Eskimo rolls"), there are a few beginner "put in" spots. The activities staff also offers guided kayaking expeditions in the nearby Pescadero Marsh from September through February. Pescadero Marsh is a 600-acre wetland, home to egrets, herons, turtles and steelhead. The calm waters make it an ideal location for kayakers of any level to explore.

Passports
Valid passport required by all nationals referred to in the chart ; validity varies - for most countries the passport must be valid for at least six months from the date on which the holder enters the USA. If not, the holder will be admitted until the expiration date on the passport; check with the embassy (see Contact Addresses).
Passport Note
(a) For nationals included in the Visa Waiver Program (see below), passports must be valid for at least 90 days from date of entry.
(b) All travellers entering the USA under the Visa Waiver Program require individual machine-readable passports. Children included on a parent's passport also now require their own machine-readable passport. Travellers not in possession of machine-readable passports will require a valid USA entry visa.
(c) Passports issued on or after 26 October 2005 will need to have a biometric identifier in order for the holder to travel visa free under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Machine-readable passports issued between 26 October 2005 and 25 October 2006 require a digital photograph printed on the data page or an integrated chip with information from the data page. Machine-readable passports issued on or after 26 October 2006 will require an integrated chip with information from the data page (e-passport).

The US has announced new measures that require all travellers to provide details online 72 hours prior to travel.
ESTA: The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) came into force on 12 January 2009. It is a fully automated, electronic system for screening passengers before they begin travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. ESTA applications must be submitted at least 72 hours before travel to the USA. Some websites may charge you for the service but you can apply online for free at www.dhs.gov. The granting of an ESTA does not guarantee entry to the USA.

New Requirements for Travellers: As of 23 January 2007 all persons, including US citizens, travelling by air between the USA and Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport, or other approved document, when entering or re-entering the USA. Similar requirements for those travelling by land or sea will be introduced on 1 June 2009.

Visas
Not required by nationals referred to in the chart above for stays of up to 90 days except:
1. nationals of Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania and Slovak Republic, who do require a visa.
Visa Note
(a) Landed Immigrants of Canada and British residents of Bermuda who are citizens of, and have valid passports from, Commonwealth countries or Ireland are not eligible to enter the USA without a visa. (b) All passengers using US airports for transit purposes are required to obtain a transit visa. This does not affect qualified travellers travelling visa free under the Visa Waiver Program. (d) To qualify for visa-free travel under the Visa Waiver Program, nationals must travel on a valid passport, for holiday, transit or business purposes only and for a stay not exceeding 90 days. (e) Passengers must have the full address and ZIP code of where they are staying in the USA to be able to fully complete the I-94W form. Note: Airlines are also required to collect passenger details, including the address of their first night's accommodation in the USA, before they board the aircraft. (f) 2. Holders of UK passports with the endorsement British Subject, British Dependent Territories Citizen, British Protected Person, British Overseas Citizen or British National (Overseas) Citizen do not qualify for the Visa Waiver Program. A passport which states holder has right of abode or indefinite leave to remain in the UK does not qualify for visa free travel. (g) A visa does not expire with the expiry of the holder’s passport. An unexpired, endorsed visa in an expired passport may be presented for entry into the USA, as long as the visa itself has not been cancelled, is undamaged, is less than 10 years old and is presented with a valid non-expired passport, provided that both passports are for the same nationality. (h) Nationals of countries not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements (see Contact Addresses).

Validity
Visas may be used for travel to the USA until the date it expires. Some visas are valid for multiple entries. The length of stay in the USA is determined by US immigration officials at the time of entry but is generally six months; there is, however, no set time.
