Lapland Posio Trail
Finland
Finland
POSIO – LAPLAND’S LAND OF MAGIC
Posio is a district in southern Lapland - an old Lappish Sámi district. Posio is best known as the home of Pentik Oy and as a naturally picturesque holiday and recreation district. Here you are surrounded by great forests and waterways that have plenty to offer you throughout the year, whether you are an equestrian, a hiker, fishing or hunting enthusiast, or simply a lover of the great outdoors. Posio has an amazing number of lakes and ponds, over 3,000! Posio is a highland area, which means a long period of snow cover and short summer.
This Lapland trail, home to the Sami people,
will take you through some of the oldest forest in Europe. Located just
south of the Arctic Circle, the Posio Wilderness area is north of Kuusamo near the Russian border. This is an opportunity to ride in an amazing area of pure
remote wilderness for enthusiasts who are not afraid of trading
everyday luxury for the experience.
We ride pure Finnish horses,
the fastest cold-blood in Europe. There are a number of fast flowing
rivers to cross and rare birds to see including the Golden Eagle. This riding safari takes you along sandy roads, trough wild forests, by lakes and over hills and fells.
The
first and the last nights are spent at a comfortable cabin. There are nice rooms with open fire and showers and sauna.
On
the trail you sleep 4 nights in tents and rustic wilderness cabins. A support vehicle will carry your belongings to the
campgrounds with road access, although on some nights you will need to
carry a change of clothes/overnight gear etc. with you. An experienced
wilderness cook will ensure you will not be hungry on your adventure.
You will enjoy traditional Finnish dishes made from reindeer and salmon
as well as more familiar dishes. Vegetarians can be catered for with
adequate notice.

style clothing. Do bring warm clothes please (such as woolen underwear, woolen socks,
