Transylvania - Walking in the Carpathians
Transylvania
Romania
Transylvania, known through Bram Stokers ‘Dracula’ and Patrick Fermors ‘Castles of Transylvania’ is one of the mysterious landscapes of Europe. The Carpathian Mountains, with their unique combination of history, legends, scenery and wildlife are still undiscovered. The remote mountains and forests of the Carpathians contain the highest population of bears, lynx and wolves in Europe. You walk in three mountains. Posavarul, Bucegi and Piatra Craiului. You will pass idyllic alms with shepherds huts scattered around, walk through mountain villages, still unspoiled, and enjoy splendid mountain views.
You visit the castles of Bran and Risnov, as well as the medieval fortified German/Saxonian town of Kronstadt/Brasov.
- An ornithologists dream
