Tarifa Riding Getaway
Southern Spain
Spain
Tarifa is the southernmost village of Spain and Europe. It offers diverse possibilities for cultural excursions: Jerez (Royal Andalusian Riding School), Cádiz, Ronda, Gibraltar, Sevilla and not least of all Tarifa itself are worth a visit. Because of its excellent wind conditions, Tarifa is also very popular with wind and kite surfers. Make your dreams of riding come true along the beach of Tarifa, on the southern most tip of Spain. The stable is located 3 miles west of Tarifa, right on the beach and close to a vast nature reserve in the mountains. Enjoy a short ride along the endless beaches on our well trained Andalusian horses or join us on one of our various daytrips. There is an ideal climate for riding all year round: The frequent winds between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic make it cool enough to enjoy riding even during hot sunny periods. In winter the temperature seldom drops below 15º.
The weekly program is a great opportunity to discover the unspoilt corners of our stunning region by horse back. The combination of white sandy beaches, the hills of the national park with panoramic views over to Africa is breathtaking. A cultural highlight is our day out in Jerez, which includes the show of 'The Dancing Horses' at the Royal School of Equestrian Art. This gives you the chance to admire the most highly schooled, beautiful Andalusian stallions. We ride 3-5 hours a day in small groups and you should be confident in all three paces. You will have your own horse for the week and become fully involved in grooming and tacking up.
If you want to discover more, we can organise following activities for you: -Additional riding or lessons. -Day trip and shopping at a bazar in Morocco (Tanger) -Dolphin and Whale watching -Learn Spanish at our well known Spanish school in Tarifa -Learn to Kite and Windsurf
Lodgings: You can make your own arrangements for accommodations, or we can make them for you. We offer a variety of options - from the 3 or 4-star hotel Dos Mares right on the beach, in one of two country houses Apartment Javier or Casa Maria, or in the simple room at the riding center.

There are about 20 well-trained local Andalusian horses waiting for you. They are kept naturally in small groups in a eucalyptus wood beside the stable. Non-riders and children can find their confidence during a beach ride or private lesson on our novice horses or ponies. However, most of our horses are forward going and are well suited for the more experienced riders of our weekly program. We ride in the Spanish Vaquerostyle which will be carefully explained to you. It uses neck-reining, body-weight and voice. We recommend wearing a helmet. You do not need spurs or a whip.
Passport and Visa Requirements:
Passport valid for at least three months beyond length of stay required by all nationals referred to in the chart except:(a) 1. EU nationals holding a valid national ID card.Note: EU nationals are onl. more
We have an ideal climate for riding all year round: The frequent winds between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic make it cool enough to enjoy riding even during hot sunny periods. In winter the temperature seldom drops below 15º C.
English or Western riding attire is fine for the ride. Rain gear suitable for riding should be carried along, particularly during the months from November through April. Good sun protection (gloves, sunscreen, hat with a chin strap), sunglasses with straps, swimsuit, towel, shorts, and a windbreaker should also be taken. A jacket or sweater for the cool evenings is recommended. A hard hat is not required, but recommended for safety. A belt pack in which to carry your camera and other small valuables during the ride is handy. Attire is strictly informal throughout, though if you are planning to visit other cities on your own later you may wish to bring a jacket and tie. Regular film can be obtained locally, but special sizes may not be available-bring plenty. It is a good idea to bring your own soap, since not all hotels supply it.
