Panhandle Bar H Ranch
Texas
USA
For three generations, the Hommel family have called this rugged and scenic land in the heart of the Texas Panhandle home.
For one relaxing week, wake up only to the songbirds outside your bedroom window and not your alarm clock! The sweet, savory smell of cowboy coffee will lure you out of that comfy bed and you will be greeted with the chuck- wagon crew as they served you up a hearty Texas breakfast of eggs, sausage, hot biscuits and gravy!
Depending on the season you visit us, you will have the opportunity to watch the cowboys working the cattle, feeding the livestock, mending fence lines, and moving the herds. Here also engage in dozens of other ranch chores yourself - you can climb in the saddle and join in the work! If you would rather spend your day relaxing out on the pretty local trails, you can take a leisurely ride across the rolling prairie. And when you are done, sit out on the porch by the pool, take a stroll along the creek, pitch horseshoes, play volleyball or wander down to the fishing hole. At the end of the day, you can watch a magnificent sunset
settle across the broad Texas horizon. Mesquite-grilled steak and all the
trimmings wait at the chuck wagon and homemade cobbler and a crackling
campfire soothe the body and the mind as the crickets call and stars
begin to twinkle in the big bold sky. Then retire back to the climate controlled and comfortable bunkhouse for a good night's sleep and dreams of what tomorrow will bring!
We also provide custom-made wagons tours of the ranch for guests who are not partial to a saddle!

There is excellent bird viewing at the ranch. 60 species can be seen in one day on this ranch.
Spring on the plains ushers in courtship rituals of the Lesser Prairie Chicken, wildflower riots, the return of nesting kites and migrant songbirds, cool evenings, pleasant days, and carpets of wildflowers.
Summer invites you to enjoy the brilliant Swallowtails, Sulphurs, and Fritillaries, as multicolored butterflies feast on the nectar of the Plains’ flowering plants. Darners, Pennants, and a variety of other dragonflies make summer a feast of color.
Fall brings Migrant Shorebirds, Raptors, Flycatchers, and Warblers through the Plains, and washes the riverbanks in brilliant autumn foliage.
Winter will entrance you with Rough-legged Hawks, Bald Eagles, Wintering Sparrows, and the clearest nights, beckoning you to turn your eyes toward the brilliant, starry skies.
The ranch is also a game preserve licensed by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Temporary and permanent photo blinds are available for wildlife photography. Coyotes, quail, turkey, deer, prairie dogs, nocturnal wildlife spotting tours, and walks along willow-lined and cottonwood river bottoms are available. The staff is familiar with nature tourism and has worked with visiting birders from around the world; as many as sixty species have been seen in a day on the ranch.

Passports
Valid passport required by all nationals referred to in the chart ; validity varies - for most countries the passport must be valid for at least six months from the date on which the holder enters the USA. If not, the holder will be admitted until the expiration date on the passport; check with the embassy (see Contact Addresses).
Passport Note
(a) For nationals included in the Visa Waiver Program (see below), passports must be valid for at least 90 days from date of entry.
(b) All travellers entering the USA under the Visa Waiver Program require individual machine-readable passports. Children included on a parent's passport also now require their own machine-readable passport. Travellers not in possession of machine-readable passports will require a valid USA entry visa.
(c) Passports issued on or after 26 October 2005 will need to have a biometric identifier in order for the holder to travel visa free under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Machine-readable passports issued between 26 October 2005 and 25 October 2006 require a digital photograph printed on the data page or an integrated chip with information from the data page. Machine-readable passports issued on or after 26 October 2006 will require an integrated chip with information from the data page (e-passport).
The US has announced new measures that require all travellers to provide details online 72 hours prior to travel.
ESTA: The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) came into force on 12 January 2009. It is a fully automated, electronic system for screening passengers before they begin travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. ESTA applications must be submitted at least 72 hours before travel to the USA. Some websites may charge you for the service but you can apply online for free at www.dhs.gov. The granting of an ESTA does not guarantee entry to the USA.
New Requirements for Travellers: As of 23 January 2007 all persons, including US citizens, travelling by air between the USA and Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda are required to present a valid passport, or other approved document, when entering or re-entering the USA. Similar requirements for those travelling by land or sea will be introduced on 1 June 2009.
For further details about the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, visit the website of the US Department of State: (website: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html).
