French wine makers have made recent attempts of revive and restore historical French varieties of wine.
These rare strains were wiped out in 1850 when an imported American grapevine unwittingly brought a breed of insect into France which destroyed vineyards across the country!  Now they hope to make a resurgence in the market...

On October 2nd, the 11th annual "ENJOY JAZZ" festivities kick off in Heidelberg, Mannheim and Ludwigshafen, Germany!
The American Saxophonist Charles Lloyd will open the 11th International festival for jazz and more on in the Heidelberg castle. Also the last concert of the festival will be played by an important Saxophonist: Wayne Shorter will finish the festival with his concert on November 11 in the town hall of Heidelberg. In six festival weeks numerous jazz-stars such as Richard Bona, Branford Marsalis, Cassandra Wilson or Joshua Redman will be playing. The program will expanded in the next weeks to about 60 events.
Festival runs until November 11th, 2009.

Downtown Paris transforms into a beach resort for the masses in summer ritual!
Families headed for the beach in the landlocked French capital on Monday for this year's launch of Paris Plages, which turns the Seine's urban riverbanks into sandy shores complete with palm trees and lounge chairs.

Over a thousand shows of all kinds, ranging from opera to stand-up comedy, from near porn to mere corn. A monster art attack in the spectacular city of Edinburgh. Not to be missed.
The Edinburgh International Festival runs Aug. 14th - Sept. 6th!
The Edinburgh International Festival is a festival of performing arts that takes place over three weeks and all performances are by invitation from the Festival Director, the International Festival brings top class performers of music (especially classical music), theatre, opera and dance from around the world to perform. The festival also hosts a series of visual art exhibitions, talks and workshops.
