Argentina
Travel restrictions
The Argentine Government announced that effective November 1st 2021, foreign tourists are permitted to enter, but must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before their arrival in Argentina.
Travelers will be exempt from quarantine so long as they have been fully vaccinated and the second dose has been given 14 days before arrival in Argentina. Argentine Authorities will require evidence of vaccination.
Minors (under age 18) who are not fully vaccinated are allowed to enter the country and will not have to quarantine.
Argentine immigration authorities require that all travelers entering or exiting Argentina submit an electronic sworn statement within the 48 hours before their arrival/departure. The form is available here: https://ddjj.migraciones.gob.ar/app/home.php
Travelers may be required to present the confirmation email they receive from this system to board a flight.
A negative COVID-19 PCR test administered no more than 72 hours prior to departure is required for all arriving international travelers.
Argentine immigration authorities require that all travelers have evidence of medical travel insurance that includes hospitalization, quarantine, and transportation coverage of COVID-19.
Any individuals with a positive COVID-19 test who are not fully vaccinated during their stay in Argentina are required to quarantine at a location determined by local health authorities for a period of 10 days from the date of onset of symptoms or in asymptomatic cases, from the date of diagnosis.
Confirmed cases who are fully vaccinated (less than 5 months after the schedule has been completed or the booster dose has been applied) will need to quarantine for 7 days from the date of onset of symptoms, or in asymptomatic cases, from the date of diagnosis, with at least 48 hours without symptoms or with mild symptoms, plus 3 days of special care (not attend large events or social gatherings, use of face mask at all times where there are other people, social distance).
The costs associated with lodging and other expenses during the isolation period are the responsibility of the traveler.
Measures taken by the government
Masks or other face coverings are mandatory nationwide in public spaces, including public transportation and passenger vehicles.
Effective October 15th, 2020, the Ministry of Transportation announced the resumption of limited domestic commercial flights and long-distance buses.
The Government of Argentina has announced the extension of quarantine and social distancing measures. Per the latest order, cities and departments not experiencing community transmission and who have satisfactory health care infrastructure will remain in mandatory social distancing. Cities and departments with increased or uncontrolled community transmission may revert to mandatory quarantine. Even in those areas under mandatory social distancing, strict limits on travel, gatherings, and other activities apply.
While there is no nationwide curfew, cities and departments on high alert given the epidemiological and sanitary situation may be subject to curfew.
Testing
Both PCR and antigen tests are widely available in the City of Buenos Aires. Outside of the City of Buenos Aires, travelers may find varying availability of testing.
Within the City of Buenos Aires, if using a private lab, results are generally available within 24 hours. If using a public hospital, the time frame for receiving results can vary between 8 and 72 hours. Please note that private and public facilities may experience delays in returning test results if demand for tests increases.
Appointments are generally required, and tourists must pay for the cost of their own test. Generally, the cost for a COVID-19 test at a private lab is 6,500 Argentine pesos.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of labs providing testing in the Buenos Aires area: Diagnostico Rossi, Laboratorio Hidalgo, Diagnostico Maipu & IADT (Instituto Argentino de Diagnostico y Tratamiento).
