Sao Miguel Discovery Week
Portugal
São Miguel, the largest island of the Azores in the heart of the Atlantic, is home to three majestic craters. On the coast, lapped by the gentle Gulf Stream, lie the sandy beaches and fishing villages.
Explore this beautiful island and hike to the caldera of Sete Cidades, surrounded by pastures and blue hydrangeas. You will also get a chance to visit Furnas village and its solfatares. In the wild crater "lake of fire" a huge colony of seabirds exudes a magical atmosphere.
Let yourself be conquered by the exuberance of light, the intensity of greens and blues, banana crops and quaint villages and immerse yourself in the overseas Portuguese lifestyle.
Highlights:
• Visit of the 3 crater lakes
• Whale Watching
• Discovering Furnas

Here, it is possible to see a cavity, made by the water erosion. Take a chance to appreciate the beauty of this place and to regain energy. You will then cross a series of majestic aqueducts that used to supply the ancient Alcohol Factory of Lagoa.
Transfer to Furnas at the end of the hike. Installation in a wonderful 4**** hotel, with free access to the hot water spring, sauna and Jaccuzzi. Free afternoon to enjoy the hotel facilities.

Then, transfer to Maia for the beginning of the hike. The path winds through the meticulously pruned green shrubs. We recommend following the path that runs through the plantations. Some elevated parts of the trail boast great views of the northern coast. The path overlooking the ocean passes through basins once used by the women of the village to wash clothes, before arriving at a set of water mills, witnesses to the island's glorious past in wheat farming.

Seasons
Located in the temperate area of the Northern Hemisphere, the Azores are characterized by their mild climate throughout the year. Clouds and rain are a possibility any time of the year, although the summer months – between June and September/October – have longer periods of sunshine and higher temperatures. The average air temperature ranges between 13.6°C (minimum) and 22°C (maximum) throughout the whole year - normally quite comfortable for riding
However, be aware that the weather can change quickly and it is not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day! Pack and dress in layers to be prepared for all types of weather!
