Due to COVID-19 Corona virus pandemic and certain travel restrictions we are applying some temporary policy changes to some of our tours.

For Mayan Jungle Ride with Caracol excursion (IT-BESR02):

We suggest travellers whose trip is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to postpone their trip to a later date.

We have implemented safety procedures and have received the Gold Standard Certification. The accommodation used for the trip is a Gold Standard Hotel.

1. Horses will be cleaned and sprayed with EM Livestock properly diluted. Saddles and all tack will be clean and sprayed with disinfectant before saddling horses. Each horse will be placed an appropriate distance apart for guests to be fitted to saddles.
2. Guides will wear masks while helping guests onto their saddles and while adjusting saddles.
3. All guests will receive oral orientation to the ride prior to ride. Orientation will include regular ride safety precautions and all health precautions. Hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer will be available in the Cantina and Welcome Center (for orientation) and at the stables.
4. Riders will be instructed to remain at least one horse-length apart at all times.
5. Riders will be instructed to wear masks at any destination where there are other people.
6. At the end of the ride, guests will depart and guides will disinfect, clean, and sanitized all tack and gear. Lunch containers and water bottles will be returned to the Cantina to be disinfected, cleaned, and sanitized.
7. All rides will be exclusive for each group booking together. No guests can be added to a ride unless they are staying at the same hotel and have mutually agreed to combine.

1. The driver will question riders using the supplied template asking if they have any symptoms of illness. The driver will also make sure they have seen the disclaimer informing them of the steps being taken to protect guests and staff, expectation while on tour, contact information for the Program Manager, and procedures for reporting suspected COVID-19 cases or suspected exposure.
2. The driver will check each rider’s temperature using a contactless thermoscan thermometer.
3. If a rider exhibits symptoms or has a temperature of 100 or above, he will be asked to stay behind and the hotel management will be advised.
4. If a guest refuses to wear a mask while mandated by law, he/she will be refused service.
5. Before inviting them to enter the vehicle, driver will provide a brief oral orientation what is to be expected regarding safety and COVID protocols. Driver will provide hand sanitizer for guests to use before entering the vehicle. Vehicles will be fitted with a sneeze-free barrier between driver and passengers. No guests will be allowed in the front seat. Passengers will be advised to wear their mask at all times while in the vehicle.
6. Upon arrival, guests will be seated at least 6 feet apart in the Cantina or Welcome Center. Hand washing stations and restrooms will be pointed out.
7. After orientation, the guests will proceed to the stables to be introduced to their horse and fitted to their saddles and assigned helmets.
8. Vehicles will be disinfected, cleaned thoroughly, and sanitized before and after each use. Masks will be required during the cleaning process. Only approved disinfectants and sanitizers will be used.

Riding Level Explained
Beginner A rider who has limited experience, is unable to post the trot and does not canter.
Novice A rider who is capable of mounting and dismounting unassisted, capable of applying basic aids, comfortable and in control at the walk, moderate length posting trots, and short canters.
Intermediate A rider who has a firm seat, is confident and in control at all paces (including posting trots, two point canters and gallops), but does not ride regularly.
D Strong Intermediate
Strong Intermediate An intermediate rider who is currently riding regularly and is comfortable in the saddle for at least 6 hours per day.
All of the above, plus an independent seat, soft hands, and capable of handlinga spirited horse in open country.
Lodging: Standard
Lodging Level Explained
= Facilities in lodges, estancias, haciendas, resorts, etc.
Basic lodging - some with shared bathroom facilities, usually no AC or room service.
Regular standard room - usually with private bath.
 Accommodations with superior comforts.
 = Trips with nights in tent camps. Sometimes the first and last night are in hotels.
Basic tent camping - everyone helps out with camp chores.
Regular standard with some camp amenities and camp cook.
Camping facilities with superior comforts like camp shower, bathroom facility..
