Itinerary for County Galway Ride

Sample Itinerary - subject to changes

This itinerary is only a sample of what is available for riders. As this is a working farm, riders sometimes have the opportunity to help with an exciting horse, cattle or sheep drive, a necessity for farming in this area.

Day 1 (Monday): Arrival & Riding Assessment
Ride through the forest to Killnadema, where riders have an opportunity to jump small obstacles while the guide assesses their ability. There is plenty of jumping for those who want to, but it must be stressed that all obstacles can be avoided.
Meals included: Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Loughrea Hotel and Spa or Fairhillhouse in Loughrea

Day 2 (Tuesday): Hunt or Knock Ash Ride
Riders can either hunt with the famous Irish hunt "Galway Blazers" or ride to Knock Ash and jump on the surrounding farmland.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Loughrea Hotel and Spa or Fairhillhouse in Loughrea

Day 3 (Wednesday): Dartfield Ride & Museum
The ride begins at Dartfield. Here, there are 350 acres of rolling parkland with a superb cross country course for riders to jump. The visit to the course is the highlight for many guests. Lunch is eaten at Dartfield after which riders have the opportunity to look around the only museum in the world to be dedicated to the Irish horse. The afternoon is spent riding and jumping on the farmland surrounding the museum.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Loughrea Hotel and Spa or Fairhillhouse in Loughrea

Day 4 (Thursday): Hunt or Jump in the morning & Hack in the afternoon
Today, riders can hunt again, or ride to Killnadema where there are natural obstacles and stone walls to jump. After lunch, riders will enjoy a hack through a large area of forestry where there are plenty of opportunities for fast gallops along woodland tracks.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Loughrea Hotel and Spa or Fairhillhouse in Loughrea

Day 5 (Friday): Dartfield
Today is spent at Dartfield again. There is another opportunity to try your skill over the event course. Those not wishing to jump can ride through the farmland around the museum and beyond into the surrounding area.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Loughrea Hotel and Spa or Fairhillhouse in Loughrea

Day 6 (Saturday): Hunt or Day at Dartfield
Those who are foxhunting will join Willie for an exciting hunt with a popular local pack. Those who are not hunting will ride at the Dartfield Equestrian Centre.
Lunch is at Dartfield and you have the chance to visit the only Museum in Ireland dedicated to Irish horses / ponies and  Dog Breeds and browse our Tack and Gift Shop.
The afternoon is again spent riding around Dartfield, going out hacking and jumping before it is time to say good bye to your four legged friend.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight at Loughrea Hotel and Spa or Fairhillhouse in
Loughrea

Day 7 (Sunday): Departure
Departure after breakfast.
Meals included: Breakfast

Non-Riders
There are many things in the area for non-riders to do. They include river fishing, deep-sea fishing, golf, cycling, mountain climbing, walking, and swimming. There are also many interesting castles and other sites to see in the area. Non-riders should have a rental car for greatest flexibility.
