Due to COVID-19 Corona virus pandemic and certain travel restrictions we are applying some temporary policy changes to some of our tours.

For Baja Sea Kayaking Expeditions (ZZ-SKEC-19):

We are doing what we can in terms of creating additional precautions and procedures.
Time in the outdoors is always rejuvenating, and now, may be more important than ever. Being with others to share the joys of nature, connection and camaraderie in a healthy, supportive atmosphere has always been central to what we do. However, we cannot eliminate the risks associated with COVID-19 and only you can decide whether those risks are acceptable to you or not.

Effective Sept 7, 2020 - All guests making new reservations for travel on any of our Sea Kayak Adventures trips lasting 3 or more days, are required to purchase CFAR (cancel for any reason) Travel Insurance to protect their investment and ours. In the ever-changing world of COVID-19 where national, state and local regulations are unpredictable, this insurance protects both you and us.  It covers 100% of your trip price if you cancel for any of the standard "covered reasons" such as breaking your leg before the trip, or the need to stay home and care for a sick family member, but it also covers 75% of your trip price if you cancel for any reason such as regulations or changes that make it impossible to attend the trip. In addition, and as a bonus, we will allow the 25% of the trip price that is not covered to be applied to a future trip credit to be used in 2021 or 2022.
Should you refuse this insurance, you may opt to sign a document stating the refusal and acknowledging that there will be no refund nor credit given should you have to cancel, or should we be unable to perform the trip.

For the upcoming sea kayaking season, we will be adjusting our trips as detailed below:

  • Travel Groups: Generally we will strive to keep those traveling together in their own pod and refer to this as a “Travel Pod” a perfect name since so many of our trips include whale and dolphin watching, who also travel in pods.
  • Participants’ Health: Your health has always been a priority on our trips, and so moving forward we’ll be implementing a guest pre-trip screening process based on new standard operating procedures developed among a number of companies within the outfitting world. This will include a temperature check and answering standard questions.  Please understand that if you or a member of your household cannot meet the screening criteria, travel with us will not be possible.
  • Covid Code of Conduct: Since our trips are all group activities, we’ve always expected people to act with courtesy and respect towards others.  This year we are adding a COVID Code of Conduct that spells out the expectations of physical distancing and other precautions that are essential for all participants to follow and agree to.
  • Keeping your Distance: Sea Kayak Adventures is committed to maintaining recommended distances during all aspects of our trips whenever possible. Sea kayaking is a perfect distancing activity as people are in independent craft.  We primarily provide double kayaks, but do have singles for those traveling alone.  At our camps, there is plenty of space to spread out in the great outdoors.  Our outdoor dining areas will be more spacious than normal.
  • Transportation: When traveling in our hired vans to or from the starting and ending points, everyone is required to wear a mask.  If you prefer to drive your own vehicle, we can arrange to have it shuttled (for an extra fee). The vans we hire will have daily cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Trained Guides & 24/7 Support: Although many of our trips operate in wilderness environments, we carry marine radios and/or satellite phones for emergencies and have other communication strategies in place so that guides have additional resources as needed.  Our guides are trained in First Aid and CPR, and this season, are getting additional training regarding possible COVID-19 situations. Our long-standing protocols for evacuation remain in place, should that be necessary.
  • Meals: Our guides will be trained to follow professional guidelines for foodservice operations. Until further notice, our guides will be wearing masks while handling food. Rather than serving food in our traditional buffet line method, we will be serving plated meals to all our guests.  We will maintain a 6 feet space between our kitchen area and guests, while both preparing and serving food.
  • Cleaning: Additional precautions have been implemented to further clean and disinfect all surfaces of the various equipment we use, including kayaks, paddles, PFDs (personal flotation devices), door handles, portable toilets, etc.
  • Sanitizing: At camp, hand wash stations will be set up and all guides will have hand sanitizer and spray disinfectant as well.  We encourage you to bring your own hand sanitizer too.
  • Face Covering: Bring your preferred face covering, and we’ll supply a few extras on the trip in case you forget. Cloth masks, buffs, etc. are all good options. While we don’t anticipate needing to wear these frequently, there will be times when they are required such as at an indoor orientation meeting or when using group transport.
